Very glad I skipped the similar, inferior CME Jazzmaster with its poo Ferro and lack of rhythm circuit. I almost got it last year but opted for the Noventa JM instead. I like these pickups well enough, but part of me wonders how it would sound with P90s. The rhythm circuit might be too muddy. I really like the neck shape, it’s a bit too glossy but that’s an easy fix. This is a great color, they should make Strats and Teles in this color.
>>
Fender couldve put a 2 knob boost where the rhythm circuit is and it would be more useful.
>>
I’m going back and forth between buying another Tele or putting together a Tele partscaster (I’ve never put together a guitar before). The body I want is $120 from a smaller builder (Tele controls but not a Tele shape), neck is $500 from Warmoth, pickups $270 from Fralin, and I haven’t priced out hardware yet (expecting around $300 for bridge and tuners, everything else hardware wise isn’t too expensive). Basically it’s going to run around $1200 to do something on my own and hope I’m happy with my inexperienced result, or just buy a spec’d build that has all that I want minus the partscaster’s non Tele body shape
>>
>>128381098

Look at real life relics on reverb they have good necks for under 250, the fret work is pretty good too.

https://reverb.com/brand/real-life-relics?product_type=parts&category=necks&sort=price_with_sale%7Casc
>>
>>128381132
The only reason I’m looking at a Warmoth neck is because the headstock shape (Snakehead) will go well with the body (Danelectro DC shape). It’s the closest headstock that looks like a Dano coke bottle headstock that I can find, and it’s still pretty different from that
>>
Also black Friday is coming up you can probably find a bargain there

Why is so boring improvising over regular major chords? I barely have any inspiration to solo in a regular G C G D, but when it comes to Gmaj7, Cmaj7 and D7, fuck, everything makes so much sense. I can feel the progression, the melody inside in my head, which is something I never feel when I'm playing over a triad chord

No fuzz currently, I had a Big Muff and a Fuzz Factory for a long time but sold them years ago. I’ve been thinking about another cheap fuzz just to goof off with when playing bass
Gonna be out shooting suppressed tonight with a buddy on his property, I haven’t shot my other AUG since I put a suppressor mount on a spare barrel so I’m gonna bring that along with one of my ARs to compare suppressed 5.56 between them (I fully expect the AUG to suck suppressed but who cares)
>>128383208
Idk that’ll take time and effort and I’d have to do it on more than that one ding, and there’s a high chance I’ll look like ass and even worse when its “fixed”. It’s a nearly 30 year old guitar, I don’t care that it has dings on it. I’ve thought about finding just a blank black sticker that’ll match the color as best as possible and just covering it up but it isn’t a priority
>>

Imagine getting shot by a squier owner.

Calling this your board is a good bit lol. I just got a huge ass chinee board off amazon for about $100. It’s 42” x 16”, I went excessively big because I’ve already upscaled once and don’t want to do it again and anticipate adding more big ass Behringer Moog clones as they release
>>
>>128385580
>This is probably a shitpost b
No, but I am embarressed about it.>>128385580
>what are you struggling with?
I know it may sound stupid, but the concepts playing it. I know you strum or pluck or slide, but for super beginners knowing which string to play and which fret to press - example: I saw for tuning if you press the bass string at the fifth fret, it should be the same note as the 5th string, and if you play the 5th string pressing at the fifth fret it should be the same as the 4 string, and on down to the second string but then at the fourth fret to get the same note as the first string. So I want a note, do I play the fifth string or the sixth string at the fifth fet and why. I saw a vid of Ace Frehely who said he never took a guitar lesson and just taught himself, but when I watch how to vids they seem to make it as complex as possible talking about "shapes" chords, notes. Shit man is it really that complicated?
>>
>>128386203
You would need a very large board its possible to mount it.
>>
>>128386287
I just tried it quickly and it's amazing thanks for the tip!

>>128386331
yeah I never bothered to mount a board because I don't gig and I used to change the pedals alot but im pretty dang happy with this configuration, tho full disclosure i just added a pigtronix resotron and if i get more power supplies i might add my blue box or some synth pedals or some shit
>>
>>128386380
People didn’t take lessons back then because there wasn’t a lot of people playing guitar when all those big dudes in the 60s and 70s were kids learning how to play. Nowadays you have every single self proclaimed expert making YouTube videos on how to do every single aspect of playing guitar and I imagine it’ll be incredibly overwhelming when starting out.
>>
>>128386041
Multiple speakers sound better
>>
>>128386380
your question is referring to positions. there are slight tonal differences between the 5th fret and an open string of the same note but it’s about setting yourself up to get to what you want to play next the easiest. you want to make your playing as effortless as possible. my advice to you is to stop worrying about the mathematics and instead ask yourself: how can I play this? does it sound good? watch this video

>I just tried it quickly and it's amazing thanks for the tip!

>>128386472
>watch this video
thank you I will watch the vid. Since I cant play I looked into guitar lessons, Guitar Center wanted like a$160 an hour. I signed up for something a lot cheaper and I think the guy was a serial killer or some artistic freak. I think I'll pass on the lessons after that.
>>
>>128386395
Do have an isolated supply? I looked into one when I upgraded my board and would need more than one so I just stuck with the daisy chain
>>
>>128386533
That's outrageous. My son's instructor played in a major label band and charges $70 an hour.
>>
>>128386533
kek. if you have a favorite genre I’d highly recommend just jumping straight into instead learning a broad but rudimentary course. genres are defined by very specific techniques, instrumentation, chord progressions etc. your ultimate goal in any kind of music is to improvise or write your own stuff and it’s a lot easier to do so when being well versed in that genre

the Gibson J160E has a P90 so you should be able to play it like an electric, but there are no videos of people playing rock or jazz on it, only unplugged or if they do plug it into an amp they strum beatles tunes.

i want to see what it sounds like through a tube amp with a cover on the sound hole to stop feedback.

It should sound like a ES330

“Shapes” are just the discrete constellations of “dots” that you visualize on the fretboard to visualize chords, scales, arpeggios, etc…usually using a root note of a chord (the chord that would be playing in the harmony) as a visual anchor point with which to attach the constellation.
