Goddamn Bilskirnir is so good. Steadily has made its way to being one of my favourite bands/projects of all time. Every single track is good. Perfect production quality, haunting, softly shrieked vocals, natural sounding drums with clattering high hats, hypnotic and darkly beautiful riffs, the occasional synth, but not overdone. Just how I like my Black Metal. Definitely not talked about enough.

Post today's progress. I listened to quite a few albums today, fully immersed in Bilskirnir, and was singing his praises earlier in the thread. So far the artist I've delved the most into this nbbmn, having only briefly listened to him many years ago. And, I finally got round to listening to Kohanic Charmers start to finish, as I somehow hadn't done so yet. It's damn good, it might be blasphemy but in some ways it might riff harder than GBK's classics, which I do love. Also the EINSATZGRUPPEN album might be the best thing I've heard from him yet. He has got a lot better at playing since those demos which I listened to back in 2016ish. >post your favourite discovery of the day.

Does anyone else find Black Metal to be the only Metal genre they truly love? Outside of like early Sabbath I don't really find I like classic heavy metal, I don't care too much for thrash, I don't like the majority of Death Metal (Bolt Thrower is the only band that has ever clicked), Doom can be good at times as can Stoner (Kyuss in particular for me) but I've tried nearly every major band/album in every metal genre over the past 10 years and nothing clicks like Black Metal does for me.

Though the bar for entry has been exceedingly low, and it it has thus been easy, and free for me, as my girlfriend did music at Uni and plays(ed) bass and guitar, and thus has multiple guitars and amps I can use in our flat. Also I have access to recording equipment that I can use when I git gud enough to record anything. Luckily if you do decide to pick up a cheap electric guitar and amp, Black Metal is a genre full of easy power chord riffs so you can have some fun straight away. The only thing that can be difficult is tremolo picking across more than two strings, which I have not got the hang of yet. Most Burzum riffs have been really easy to learn, especially Dunkelheit, which was the first riff I ever learned.
