I know it's supposed to be a high-speed shred machine but them korean made PAF copies are just so sweet for blues and 80s metal chugs.
Why would a man want to shred when he could just gently walk a harmonic minor scale and do a few power chords?

"the boomer" might be here since he mentioned /gg/ in /prod/. he's truly the worst stubborn idiot like i can't even describe how profoundly retarded he is. he has some kind of actual intellectual disability yet he chose to try to become a successful songwriter/producer/etc which arguably takes the most artistic genius out of anything but he's unashamed to keep trying for years/decades because he lacks any kind of self-awareness and his world view is dumbed down so he thinks music production and audio engineering is much simpler than it really is.

Fellas, help me out.
Looking at a 2001 MIJ strat near me, but the serial number dates it as a 93-94 strat. Furthermore, the headstock has the MADE IN JAPAN decal instead of CRAFTED IN JAPAN on the headstock.

MIJ and CIJ were made in different factories and different eras with some overlap in the 90s. What you're looking at is a FujiGen MIJ, the very early ones are highly sought after, but this one from the overlap period (still sought after).

Big if true. Guy lives a good distance away so I'm wary about saying "yeah let me come try it" if it ends up being a fake... But also, a 2001 MIJ is a weird choice to fake and the price seems right at around 650.
>>128460634
Yeah, I noticed that. I've seen a few pics of genuine MIJs of that era without CIJ/MIJ stamped above the serial, but plenty with it.

What’s the newer MIJ you have? This 2025 Trad II FSR Jag is one of the nicest Fender offsets I’ve ever played and I’ve played well over a hundred between my own, friends, and trying them out in stores. I wouldn’t trade this for a flawless vintage Jag, even if it meant I could sell it and buy three of these. This one is 1 of 50 limited run. Now that you can get MIJs with American pickups and hardware they’re worth the hassle of importing and the price of doing it.

The red Mustang had chips in the back of the neck, needed fret work, needed a new nut, and was a 2004 CIJ guitar. The brown one doesn’t need any work, neck feels great, frets are in great shape (I’m fairly sure it’s been refretted at some point), and is a 1977 guitar that was only a couple hundred more than the Japanese one. I didn’t want to dump money into the red one to have the nut replaced and frets worked on when I already had one I liked better so I traded it off

I want something with lipstick pickups and I’m going back and forth between just getting a Danelectro, getting an Ibanez Talman, or putting together some kind of partscaster with lipsticks. I want proper Danelectro sized lipsticks though, not the more common Strat pickup sized lipsticks. If I go partscaster I’m really considering a 24” or maybe 24.75” scale with Mustang/Duo Sonic body, hardtail, two pickups, and switching for both pickups in parallel, series, and out of phase. Everyone raves about the series wiring in Danos and it doesn’t make sense not to have that if I’m going the partscaster route but I also really like the two pickup out of phase sound. I just want something with lipsticks but what’s available isn’t 100% what I’d want, the new Jaguar is cool but not $3000 cool

As a bedroom guitarist I now exclusively use a Boss MT-2 pedal as a pre-amp instead of a "real amp" and couldn't be happier. The ability to dial in which mid freq I want to boost/cut is so nice.

I actually had to turn it down on my mixer cause it was too loud but for some reason it didn't click in my head to turn down the bass. I was just super set on copying stin's exact settings and using my pedals with them.

I’ve got a Strat from the late 80’s MIJ and it’s got a single ply pick guard. The guitar is super nice, but I’m curious if you guys think the pick guard has been replaced by a cheap one?
On the other hand, I have one of those mid 2000’s Fender Starcasters (cheap made in China) and it’s ironically got a nice 3 ply pick guard.
Thinking about buying a 3 ply for the MIJ if it’s a replacement.

Been thinking hard about selling most of my guitars, I only really play a small handful and while it’s nice to have options with different pickups and tones and stuff I still end up playing the same two or three electrics every time I play. I enjoy all of my electrics but I don’t really need nearly a dozen of them.

Yeah, defo an improvement. I guess now you gotta fiddle around with gain and blends to get that aggressive distortion you wanted. I see your big muff is basically not sounding at all with that blend all the way to the left. Remember it has its own channel, you can keep it cranked and much rather control it via the Send/Return on the tri paralel switcher.

Don't cope. Put time and effort into practicing instead of trying to fiddle with a pedalboard.
Are you gigging? I gigged as a bassist professionally, as in my only income, for a good decade. You can put all the time in the world into creating the perfect rig only to get mogged by some kid with an indonesian squier jazz bass and a 100 watt ampeg combo.
Just learn to play the instrument.

This is a cope for uncreative bugpeople with no soul inside their body. Jimi Hendrix didn't need to learn the rules he just played whatever he wanted to. You aren't breaking any rules, your playing is generic uninspired dog feces. Nobody on Earth cares about how skilled you are at plucking metal strings on a wooden plank.
