It's incredibly antisocial behaviour and it benefits no one. No one actually likes this. Not to mention that it doesn't make sense from an insider standpoint; these styles are the musicians' when they are performing, not the fans', and certainly not meant as everyday fashion. Are all of them posers?

It's just kids and man children having fun but yeh as far as Punk™ goes it was always fraudulent.
>>
no, turds, it's OK to do as long as you're young and you are an active part of a scene that exists locally and you haven't already presented yourself unequivocally as committed to some other style or scene
>>
>>128472805
I grew up in the Los Angeles punk scene in the 80s. This is so far from the truth.
>>

???????
So you're saying punk isn't antisocial?
>>
fashion is an equally valid form of expression to any kind of art.

oh wow, one of the old school punks, I was about 5+ years behind you but saw some good shows at Fenders and the Olympic and some other places

>Why dress as specific music subcultures?
No they do like it. And it is because it makes up a community, people want to feel like they belong and what not thats how friendship is made. Are you dumb?

Why are punks weird hairstyle havers because punk sounds like that, a mess of noise and teens having fun also because its rebellious to not care how you look so much or whatever the fuck, also its cool that they are mentally independent from what you think of them and just style their shit however they find it to be cool looking.

the leather jacket is cool, the color black in clothing is cool and looks slick and edgy, the studs on the jacket are metallic and give a sense of like a defensive armour, flipping the bird while smiling means he doesnt care about what you think of him and he is happy about it, the spikey hair makes it seem like he is sharp like a hedgehog, the bullet belt expresses militaristic rudeness and the jeans are made of denim because it is a tough material used by cowboys due to it's resistance to the elements which made it effective for working long hours. the patches on it give the vibe that he can repair his own jeans, the symbology presents his free (non-goy) spirit.

i went to private schools so i really dislike uniforms
even if i've listened to shit like misfits and dead kennedys since i was 12, i never felt the need to wear the punk uniform
the other day i went to the beach with some friends that play in bands and shit and we were all wearing trunks and shit, and then this bass player for a local crust punk band showed up wearing boots, black jeans and his battle vest to the beach
i couldn't imagine doing that, shit is so anti-individual
and don't even get me started on the 2000s mallgoth/pop punk "emo" get-ups that shit was nasty

Punk is social just misfit social or awkward social or alternative social whoever you may call it but its still a group, its still a social tribe you could say.
Going to the Punk Scene is you wanting to meet that tribe of people, learn about what they like, what they dont like, etc. There is a lot of punk because its a genre for punk ass teens that is easy to get into and it should be discarded slowly by more experienced musicians as they age. Punk bands are amateurish on propose. They are not trying to be technical or to have more complicated advanced music theory to them.

Yeah but all that shit goes out the window when you remember most of these faggots buy this shit pre-made or tear up brand new store bought clothing. The hair stuck up with store bought gel. It's all fake and gay nothing DIY about it.

>Because every band sells shirts and merch sales are the only way they make a buck
>Because pictures of skulls are cool
>Because leather jackets and boots are cool
>Because denim is cool
>So that people in public know the music I like (as well they should)
T. Metal Guy
I can't speak for no other genre

It feels like this doesn’t happen any more, like it’s something left behind in the 20th century. All young people nowadays have the same taste in fashion and the same shitty hairstyles and tattoos.
>>
>>128475499
it's not as prevalent as before but if you live in a major city you will still see a ton of urban tribes
>>
>>128475499
thank tiktok for that

>It's incredibly antisocial behaviour and it benefits no one.
It's not really anymore? In the 80s people took that shit seriously and you could get your ass kicked. Honestly a lot of people are walking around nowadays looking like Star Wars characters.
>>
>>128472735
Yeah let's discourage every hot woman who dresses up for fun from going to concerts, it should all be a bunch of Mark Zuckerberg cunts who can't waste precious brain power on deciding what to wear today.
>>
>>128472735
Dressing yourself a certain way is just a form self expression. It's a cringe statement but it does reflect a certain lifestyle or philosophy. Especially punk.
>>
>Are all of them posers?
Yes.
>>
>>128477663
IF EVERYBODY IS A POSER THEN NOBODY IS A POSER YOU FUCKING RETARD
>>
>>128475873
Speak for yourself, I'd love to go to a death metal show and the entire crowd is investment bankers in suits. Would be funny as shit.
>>
>>128473591
Gathering to public places forming groups to the point of even having a fucking uniform is about as social you can get.
Antisocial is eschewing human contact by sitting in your bedroom all day and not caring at all about your looks or how you fit in.

>>
It’s fun, it’s not hurting anyone, and it signals to potential friends “I’m into the same things you’re into” which invites conversation.
