Go to the Death Metal genre tag on RYM: https://rateyourmusic.com/charts/top/album/all-time/g:death%2dmetal/
Listen to every album from the top until you get to ones that aren't bolded (when an album is displayed in a bolded font on an artist's page, it means it's recommended). Should be around 200-220 albums that cover almost everything that's considered classic, except for a few bands that RYMtards have a hate boner for like Cannibal Corpse.
