I have an itch to learn music theory. What's the best/easiest way to do this in the current year? I have no instruments but I can buy them, used to play a little guitar long time ago, I remember some basics but very little.

There are plenty of overview videos that will teach you basic theory in 1-2 hours. If you really want to learn it buy a piano/keyboard because it's ez mode for theory on an instrument.
