Gaybros what is the integral Dolly Parton album to listen to. I'm not into country but I want to listen to one of hers to form an opinion on her music. Roommate in undergrad was president of the musical theater company so I saw his production of 9 Till 5 but those are showtunes, not like a normal studio album

She's an icon with a few banging songs under her belt and is more than happy when people do covers of her work instead of being pissy about it.

Really, though, she is more of a cultural icon. Came up from less than nothing, made something of herself, and does a lot of charity work and such. One of those few people that is kinda hard to shit on and you gave a massive backlash from just about everyone when you do except, oddly, from Dolly herself.

Pretty much this. Has a few really great songs but has such a nice personality that gets her over with everyone. Even people who don't really like her music at least acknowledge that she seems sweet.
