His music production wasn't anything impressive and he would've benefited more if he let other producers to do their job. There I said it.

I've yet go hear an even mediocre Prince album. Even his 3rdeyegirl record kicked ass!We missed out on so much great music because of The Purple One's refusal to keep taking his HIV medication.
I never understood the reverence for him. I think people hear that he's "actually super talented and played 5000 instruments and was prolific and produced everything and so much more legit than mj" and that becomes their opinion instead of one that might form from actually listening to his music. I like Dirty Mind a lot, but his production drops off a cliff after that album. I'm not one to complain about 80's production, but he is probably the worst offender of the entire decade. Why do people praise his LinnDrum programming? It ruins every song he uses it on. He has a bunch of great singles, but many of them I think are held back by his godawful production.

Little Red Corvette, When Doves Cry, Purple Rain, Raspberry Beret, 17 Days, Diamonds And Pearls, Sign O The Times, 1999, I would Die 4u are all really good songs.
