One of the main reasons my girlfriend of 9 years left me was because I wouldn't release or monetize my music. She just didn't understand that it's the only thing that brings me any joy or comfort - writing songs is like meditation for me. She just couldn't comprehend somebody not needing to social-media-maxx attention-maxx clout-maxx etc. But that would have ruined it for me years and years ago, and I've managed to keep the spark of joy alive and still write every single day. I did used to spam here on /mu/ roughly 15 years ago, and I loved getting praise/feedback from anons. But even that got old after a while.
