>There is a huge percentage of music geeks that are insecure. And maybe music is a praxis for them to find some part of identity or confidence or something. Okay, that's fine. But again, I don't apologize for not being like that. And I don't apologize for finding it kind of sad. I just don't. There's no reason you have to be a record geek. You can love music and be successful in life and not get a fucking bunch of tattoos and develop Class A drug habits on and off. It's really super possible to do both things. I can't stop saying that to people because I just keep finding people my age who are FUCKED. They're fucked! You know, 'cause they kept trying to make this their actual life and not a hobby. And I feel terrible. I don't relish that. I'm not saying this because like I'm sticking it in someone's face. I can't think about this anymore. People I came up with are hurting bad. You know, the Other Music guys, their wives paid for them to run a record store that made no money for ten years. They had like three years where they made real money, and barely. And those years were their highest years of rent. So they were paying like 18 grand a month to Manhattan. It's just....ugh. So yeah, I kind of have to be done with it.

>I don't apologize for not being like that
Literally everything I've ever read and heard from him is just bitter rambling about what other people think.
>>

Chris made his hobby into a career so I dont think so

You have no argument

>dude...90s movie but a hat!
>>
Chris Ott got his entire personality from the main character of High Fidelity, seemingly unaware that the point of that movie is that people like that are insufferable assholes.
>>
>>128497155
I watched that documentary and all the guys who worked at that store are exactly like Ott says, like they've been waiting their whole lives for someone to put them in a documentary.
>>
>>128499990
>implying Ott isn't just jealous that no one would even ask him to be in the P4k doc
>>
>>128500014
Yeah I don't doubt he'd like a little more credit for his P4K contributions. Guessing all the early P4K crew have mixed feelings about it now. Schreiber walked away a very wealthy man and nobody else got shit. Kek, zuckerberged big time

Dunno if Ott would show up in a documentary. Secretly he'd probably want to but a week later he'd want to delete fucking everything like he keeps doing with all the Shallow Rewards stuff vids

>You guys are snobs. Seriously you're totally elitist. You feel like the unappreciated scholars, so you shit on people who know less than you.
Rob, Barry, Dick: No!
>Which is everybody.....
Rob, Barry, Dick: Yeah...
>It's just sad....

/mu/ in a nutshell

>>128500225
/mu/ isn't even elitist anymore. there's daily numetal threads.

i go to a record store thats run by a gen xer and i feel like im on a movie set
>>
>>128500243
There were 12 years ago when we posted death grips everyday. The more things change, the more things stay the same.
>>
>>128500225
Being a snob is based. You should always shit on plebs who post Wpop slop and Lincoln Park.
>>
>>128500261
death grips in 2012 was more elitist than numetal in 2025 dude. i get that it's cool to hate on old /mu/core now, but at least people weren't completely averse to new music then.

>>128499691
dude… name a single movie this decade that’s even fit to lick HEAT’s balls
>>
>>128500397
I can't, because movies were only good in the 1970s.

“this is where the Beatles went from a pop band to the band we all know and remember them for”.
