The guitar once it starts to shift into the dissonant bits gets quite cool but then it just… ends. Would be cool to hear what you could do with some more layering and reverb and shit.

A new trick, a new technique, a new kind of chord progression or melody, etc, all got absorbed into something bigger, and it would stick. the bigger thing is what gives the small things meaning and context.you can clearly play guitar but you can’t write cohesive music if you don’t challenge yourself to actually do that in new ways. what you’re describing is like looking at a bunch of wonderful paints and brushes and wondering why they haven’t turned into a painting yet.

>>128529273>I didn't think the old-string-sound was that noticeablethe absolute best thing you can do for your guitar/bass recordings is new strings. it ABSOLUTELY makes a difference. go on amazon and buy a 3 pack of orphee acoustic strings. same exact strings as fender/gibson/elixer but wayyy cheaper. sure, it's cool to jam and write songs on dead strings, but when it comes time to record for real, you want brand new strings. record it into a cheap usb interface (metronome in the headphones). then sing over the track separately. you can always "glue" a track together, but you really can't fully UN-glue it.

Even one guy I know who’s a very good jazz pianist was like “oh I loved the time signature changes” and I was like “there were time signature changes?” until i realised he meant between 3/4 and 6/8, because in my head that’s too basic to count.
