There's the whole Moving Shadow catalog on the Internet Archive. (Community Audio I think) Not the worst idea to dig into that to get a better grasp of the changing aspects of the genre. From early Hardcore, over Jungle, and so called D'n'B proper, into the various sub genres. Moving Shadows covered most of that with quality releases.
Plenty of Metalheads stuff over there as well.
And stick to the 90s, when things were still fresh.

Nah Regis was playing Techno like you would expect but it was fucking amazing, actually a really good night in general. On the back of that night me and some mates went to London to see him do a Sandwell District set. The day after this I went to see Black Sabbath live for their final show, couldn't have planned it any better.

>Man, I wish I was in London, I'd ride the night more than I should
That Sandwell District thing I mentioned earlier was at a nightclub called Fold in East London and it is amazing. On top of that I have spoke to some random guys who run sound systems/club nights etc. and nearly all of them have said Fold is the best night club in Europe. At first I was thinking "really? The best night club in Europe is in East London? What are the chances" but yeah it's been amazing. Went there for a night hosted by Rupture LDN and saw Mantra, Double O, Sonar's Ghost, DJ Stretch and a few others, great night.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EVA4zG94ho

There are a few incredibly underrated US D&B/Jungle producers and DJs out there and for what it's worth I reckon E-Sassin is probably the best.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyRuet9a0d8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7WCBQ1Sq5M
Only the very top tier UK guys like Ed Rush & Optical, Stakka & Skynet and Bad Company were making tunes this heavy and intricate in the late 90s.
>>
>>128568570
Yeah, the Rupture shows seems super solid, it's also one of the best label out there.
There's this upcoming show organized by Distant Planet where Equinox, Kid Lib, Hughesee, Louise +1 and others playing, sounds like a hell of a night,
I wish I'd attend but will probably have to ditch for something else. It's crazy for a city to have this much good musical event happening and
I'm just one eurostar away (Paris) and basically nothing worth it is happening, only shitty sound systems too and mediocre clubs, apart maybe from Rex and this new club called Essaim.
Only things worth it are the noise/"experimental" shows.

>nearly all of them have said Fold is the best night club in Europe

Man I live like 1 hour drive away from Manchester, shit we should go to this. I've been desperate to see Kid Lib live because he hardly plays any shows. He was doing a set last weekend in Sheffield which also had Dillinja and Dwarde but I couldn't convine anyone to go with me. Instead we went to Warehouse Project in Manchester which was also decent.

Kid Lib's released a few albums this year and pic related is my AOTY so far.

That is an incredibly based tape, I remember when it came out I was completely blown away by it. In a similar vein Carrier (formerly known as Shifted who was one half of Commix) released a similar late 90s Techstep tape last year.

> in the middle of the Trance
To be honest, I haven't really seen someone played quality trance tunes, it always felt pastiche-y. Maybe I should look a bit deeper into it but not gonna lie, I want extra heavy bassy sonic slap right now lol.

Yeah, Kid Lib is top tier producer, I really liked his jungle techno things and Jungle Mood 1.

I preferred Jungle Mood II over I personally. I was out for some Dubstep and Jungle night in Sheffield and the DJ (Alex Deadman, some local dude) played a tune and then rewound it saying it was a Kid Lib special with Bount Killer flown in for the vocals, not a sample. That ended up being the opening track of Nature of Reality, really cool way to here it for the first time.

>it always felt pastiche-y
If you ever get the chance to see anyone from Union Trance Mission or Organik do a set I reckon you'd have a decent time going. Not to mention this came out last week (not sure if any of these guys are French but it is a very based mix).

Yeah I really like Spatial as well, they have some kind of affiliated label called Curvature that has similar sounding EPs that I always check out.

>atmospheric DnB
This reminded me, 2 nights ago I saw Takuya Nakamura in Liverpool and he played a set of Jazzy Jungle / D&B with live trumpet inbetween and it was incredible.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVvr1b1oWJA

Was really like old school Good Looking Records stuff. A great night.
>>
>>128569665
Yeah Silva Snipa is really good. Pic related was when I saw her live at some big 2 day thing in Sheffield (the photo would be better but it was like 4am when she was playing and I was already drunk as fuck and had just lost a cute nurse who was hitting on me and wanted to speak to more because I couldn't seen properly).

I originally went to that Sheffield thing to see Inteplanetary Criminal and Silva Bumpa play some UKG stuff which they did and it was based, also Joy Orbison played and that was great too. But Silva Snipa really killed it, that room had a great sound system in it too which helped.

Can't even tell you how lucky I was, a few weeks ago someone posted that video of him playing in a the rice fields and I looked him up on RA and saw he's based in US, but then saw
>huh he's playing in Manchester, I could see him live

And I knew I wasn't going to get the chance again so I went to the Liverpool one since I live about 1hr ish drive away from both cities. Fucking amazing set.

My favourite Breakbeat single of 2024 was Special Request - Portal 4

My favourite overall single was actually a Speed Garage rework of a Janet Jackson tune by Silva Bumpa.

NS Jungle is an underplayed genre.
I should look into Amit - I only have this weird halftime single from 2015 by him that kinda sounds like angry Massive Attack.

I didn't know about this one, Amit is really good at creating these dark atmos.

I also like Loxy & Resound when it comes to halftime, they make some heavy pressure tracks

Response & Pliskin have a record label called Northern Front Records which looks like it could be NSD&B, and they got in trouble for sampling a Hitler speech in a track which then needed editing after release. So, it does kind of exist.
