The thinking-man's producer
the chad embrace
>does nothing>wins
the Hard Rock Cafe should offer a Rick Reuben featuring a wall of pastrami
>shows up at the studio>sits in front of the computer>opens project>turns up +20dB>Save as...>"That would be $1M please"Fucking hack
>>128569595More like the cave-mans producer
>>128569595Despite ruining albums with loudness war mastering, deserves respect for turning the reverb down on Reign in Blood. And the original release has good dynamic range too.
>>128569595>rick rubin >produces for rhcp>"make lead singer sound 20 years younger please.">"ok">"ok now take off 6 months idk"
>>128569809He cant keep getting away with it
>>128569595His book is a very good read
Rick is proof that non-musical music enjoyers know what they're talking about it.
>>128569595>show up>stay out of the way>give some feedback>make everyone involved buckets of doughBased
>>128574530He's cultured so he has taste and has an inherent understanding of what is good and works and what doesn't which is a skill
>>128574843Yes, nigger.>t. knower
>>128569595Wrong pic. This guy started noticing things.>He began to hear sidetones on his recordings which he thought could only be caused by hidden bugging devices: to find the bugs he tore off the wallpapers. And he was sure his landlady, Violet Shenton, eavesdropped on him through the chimney every night - for the benefit of rival record companies and other "rotten pigs".
>>128571328Best sounding metal in a sea of shit production
>>128575216True, and he produced all of them. Add Danzig's self titled album to the list too, he also produced it and it sounds really good, same year as South Of Heaven. And then he decided to change things up a lil when RHCP came along........
>>128569595the only people who think he sucks are musicians who didnt get their way in the studio and midwits who watched a youtube video that told them a waveform is the only thing to look at when judging the quality of a mix
>>128575477No anon, all of the music he made after the 80s sounds like complete shit. I'm an audiophile and having a good master with good dynamic range is an extremely important factor to define what sounds good and what doesn't sound good. On a high end audio setup, listening to the music he produced (after the 80s) is a completely horrendous experience. It is literally made to sound loud, not good.
>>128575441People at the time complained about Danzig 1 sounding too dry. People can't be helped. Danzig 2 and 3 then did have fuller production - still great. The Brickwall was still a few years ahead.
Even Slipknot complained that he did nothing, but the album he produced for them is still their most listened to.
>>128575536It was Rick's idea for them to record in the Houdini mansion. That's all he had to add, which mattered a lot for the vibe.
>>128575536They had come into their own as artists at this point and I'd argue this album would have been a big success if Rick had produced it or not
>>128570399kek
COME ON LET'S GET RICK RUBIN'D COME ON JUMP THE FUCK UP
>>128575534Having owned Danzig 1 on vinyl (original first pressing) I think it sounds fantastic and better than 2 and 3, but the latter ones are still acceptable.
>>128575543Yeah, and the "standard going forward" is the reason why post 90's music sounds like shit. Especially early 2000's. Just awful. The only music that sounds truly amazing is from the 70s and 80s. Can't listen to modern shit. It's so sad we'll never go back to the days of great sound.
>>128575536I thought the most famous one was Iowa?
>>128575790It's their heaviest album. Self-titled is their nastiest album. Whether nastier or heavier is better is subjective, but that's the difference between those albums. Vol.3 is what made them mainstream It's their most palatable album for a normal person. AHIG is technically superior to Vol.3, and more mature than IOWA and ST. Gray Chapter is their Mall Goth album. You might think IOWA and ST are Mall Goth tier, but no, Gray Chapter proves it is the true Mall Goth album of their discography. WANYK is their most cinematic album. The End So Far is their flop album.
>>128575597KEK>>128575599I can agree.>>128575790Numbers don't lie; Vol 3 is their most listened to full-length. "Iowa" is indeed their most revered together with their debut, but it's actually the second least listened to. See picrel for details.Disregard most of what that other guy said; it's just his opinion.
>>128570399>>128575477>>128575536>>128575534The thing is, he doesn't do that much mixing or writing. Especially not on the stuff he's known for. "producer" didn't always mean mixing engineer and writer.People just use it that way now so he gets way more credit than he deserves. He's mostly a glorified manager.
>>128579114Here's his credits if you're wonder what he did on certain projects.https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/rick-rubin/credits/
