What made Björk such a popular singer?
>>
>>128670331
absurdly high budget music videos
>>
Talent? Maybe the fact that she's talented
>>
tight body
>>
her singing is weird

The 90s was just better for listeners and artists and allowed more styles to be appreciated.
I mean, even Pure Moods was a thing. It's not even a meme.

This is so true it hurts physically.
Many say that it's easier than ever to become a musician and while there is some truth to that it has also never been THIS difficult to stand out and actually be heard.
There are 100000 songs that get uploaded to Spotify daily. Imagine how many songs that is daily, everywhere, not just on that one service. The flood you have to work against is absolutely insane and who's actually getting popular is more or less decided by algos and people running the services.

Yeah, higher quality diy production is easier. But everything else is working against people, as you said.

And even that isn't even really helping you a whole ton. There are songs that got popular that had really ass sound quality.

>>128670331
She was only popular in the 90s, since Homogenic she went too experimental a path for normie ears to follow.
>>
>>128670331
shilling contrarians
>you don't understand it's supposed to sound like shit
>>
>>128670331
GenX had a major crash out in the 90s.

She sells a surprising amount of records, even in the United States. An album as challenging as Medulla sold 235,000 copies in America

>it's contrarian to like things that I don't like
Helicopter parented, hypermedicated, therapized zoomies are getting out of control

The men behind the scenes who actually made her music, like her black boyfriend Tricky.
>>
>>128671090
>implying tricky was not also just a vocalist rapping over beats other people made
>>
>>128671082
And if you complain once more
You'll meet an army of me
>>
>>128671090
People listen to Bjork for her voice and vocal melodies, not the dated beats.

Yes.
Fusic >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> shit >>>>>>>>>>> pus >>>>> Gusic

She's popular in a niche way, not in an absolute way like, say, Lady Gaga or Katy Perry

different kind of musician

If you like Bjork, you should listen to these other Icelandic bands that are weird but excellent.
Hjaltalín
Hjálmar
Samaris

There's something in the water up there. Every artist I've ever heard from Iceland has been great to discover.
