What made Björk such a popular singer?
>>128670331absurdly high budget music videos
Talent? Maybe the fact that she's talented
tight body
her singing is weird
>>128670331The 90s was just better for listeners and artists and allowed more styles to be appreciated.I mean, even Pure Moods was a thing. It's not even a meme.
>>128670351>The 90s was just better for listeners and artists and allowed more styles to be appreciated. This is so true it hurts physically. Many say that it's easier than ever to become a musician and while there is some truth to that it has also never been THIS difficult to stand out and actually be heard. There are 100000 songs that get uploaded to Spotify daily. Imagine how many songs that is daily, everywhere, not just on that one service. The flood you have to work against is absolutely insane and who's actually getting popular is more or less decided by algos and people running the services.
>>128670331her unique and artsy music, voice, style and personality
>>128670443Yeah, higher quality diy production is easier. But everything else is working against people, as you said.

>>128670697>higher quality diy production is easier. And even that isn't even really helping you a whole ton. There are songs that got popular that had really ass sound quality.
>>128670331She was only popular in the 90s, since Homogenic she went too experimental a path for normie ears to follow.
>>128670331shilling contrarians>you don't understand it's supposed to sound like shit
>>128670331GenX had a major crash out in the 90s.
>>128670939She sells a surprising amount of records, even in the United States. An album as challenging as Medulla sold 235,000 copies in America
>>128671025>it's contrarian to like things that I don't likeHelicopter parented, hypermedicated, therapized zoomies are getting out of control
>>128670331The men behind the scenes who actually made her music, like her black boyfriend Tricky.
>>128671090>implying tricky was not also just a vocalist rapping over beats other people made
>>128671082And if you complain once moreYou'll meet an army of me
>>128671090People listen to Bjork for her voice and vocal melodies, not the dated beats.
