Got bait and switched for a gig - I was told we'd be doing improvised noise rock, but at the rehearsal two days before I learn I'm actually filling in for the backing band of some retard's covers + singer-songwriter shit. Half the covers are Elliot Smith, all the originals are whining about how "you're sooooo beauuutifulllll". I don't want to back out, because I am friends with the venue owner and don't want to fuck him over. What do I do to fuck with them? I am on drums, and am significantly better at my instrument than the rest of the band are at theirs.

Drums are not an instrument, and you are not a musician. You can easily be replaced by an app like Superior Drummer 3 and if your bandmates were not so retarded, that’s what they should do.
