Probably sounds too melancholic. Bright and uplifting music is generally more liked.
>>
>>128709960
It evolved from lute tuning, I think..but with slight differences. That said, "E" wasn't always the E as we know it. Instead of A=440, baroque instruments were 415. It's closer to our E flat, just by a few points. So E Standard basically used to feel like Eb standard. To me, it feels the best. D is too flimsy.
>>

Why is 22 frets the standard? Is it just to make the bridge and neck pups sound more different?

I'm just talking about rock. Even less frets on a classical guitar. If you count most rock, it was done on 22 fret Gibsons (to be fair) and 21 fret Fenders. Even up to the 90s when all the grunge dudes were still playing old Fenders.

Lots of very usable sounds out of this with all the switches. I need to change strings and set it up how I like but I don’t want to do it if I’m just gonna tear it apart again to swap the pickguard and replace the bridge so I’m just gonna wait to do it all together at once

I feel like picrel has ruined an unhealthy chunk of music discussion online. A day or so ago I passingly mention my plants to buy a black LP Custom since alpine white ones are trickier to find second hand, and of course someone barges in with the "is that le bocchi guitar?". I normally wouldn't give a rat's ass about comments like these but ever since this garbo series came out it seems like everything guitar/bass/rock-related online is at least partially tainted by these parasites. The most bizarre part is that if you go the other way and mention instruments and playing music to these people it's like giving vegetables to a crack addicts.

What’s the deal with people replying without quoting?
You’re online, you’re in a thread, thirty people talking
and some guy just jumps in with,
“Yeah, that’s what I’ve been saying!”
Saying to who, exactly?!
Who are you talking to?!
We don’t know!
It’s like walking into a crowded room and yelling,
“I AGREE!”
Okay great!
with what?!
And then you have to scroll up,
scroll down,
play detective…
“Was he responding to Bob?
Susan?
Was it something I said?!
Do I owe this guy an apology?!”
And half the time, it’s completely unrelated!
You think they’re responding to a debate about guitars,
and they’re over here talking about their dog’s birthday party!

Much better now that the frets are crowned nicely. It was fine as it was, but now it’s way more smooth. Between this and my Noventa, the Jazzmaster has become my go to. I’ve been using my Jags and Mustangs for alternate tunings, I’ve come up with some pretty sweet riffs in Stephen Wilson Jrs DFA#FAD. That blue Mustang sounds great down there and holds it surprisingly well.

it’s a stupid place to start but if you have the motivation and patience to get used it you’ll be better for it. Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” is the first bassline I ever learned when I started playing. It took me several months but really accelerated my skill on the bass. When I say learned I played in time to a metronome not the backing track

it's stupid as well because the AI is generative, not procedural, take away the humans and you have nothing but AI to feed the AI.
>>
>>128715606
IMO AI generated "music" should be labeled as such on places like spotify etc at the very least.
The people making it obviously don't care about the music they just want to make a quick buck
>>
>>128715553
Fake bands getting paid more than real people is a problem, simple as
>>
I think I’ve finally mastered the minor and major pentatonic scales. I can improvise and match my vocalization in real time. Not quite sure where to go from here. I should work on finding the keys of songs by just playing along I guess and work on hearing chord changes. I’ve got 1-4-5s down already.
>>
>>128715774
I wouldn't be surprised if those bands were propped up by spotify themselves, infinite money glitch when you factor in all the bot views. guess the economy is in the state where people who get paid triple the minimum wage, and still go dumpster diving to hold onto every dollar they can get

>>128715774
Well, streams don't make any money and AI-artists can't go on our so really I think we'll see more of the same from the music industry.
There's also, thankfully, a lot of push back against this.
We live in clown world, AI should be replacing menial tasks and make life for humans easier but instead it replaces what makes us human.

Major scale: From the note you start on, Whole-step, whole, half, whole, whole, whole, half
>>
>>128715903
1 mean 2 maj 3 perfect 4 perfect 5 major 6 major 7 is what they mean. Minor scale refers to the natural minor. There is only one major scale. The modes are actually all still the major scale too they just start on different intervals and by changing the tonal center of your music by resolving on a new root it makes it feel like a weird scale in a new key

the strings are tuned in 5ths/4ths depending on which direction you are going. The wrench is the B string which is the 5th of the E but because it’s below the G string for make chords possible for your hands, everything is shifted up a fret from where you would expect it to be

I've heard this used in a covers band, it sounded good. Of course it helped that a competent guitarist and an effects unit helped make it sound good through the pa. Playability felt like an acoustic as he used steel 12's on it.

iambic pentameter warming up...
>>
From childhood’s hour I have not been
As others were—I have not seen
As others saw—I could not bring
My passions from a common spring—
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow—I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone—
And all I lov’d—I lov’d alone—
Then—in my childhood—in the dawn
Of a most stormy life—was drawn
From ev’ry depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still—
From the torrent, or the fountain—
From the red cliff of the mountain—
From the sun that ’round me roll’d
In its autumn tint of gold—
From the lightning in the sky
As it pass’d me flying by—
From the thunder, and the storm—
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view—

Man I miss my Mig 50. I got sick of waiting for EHX to ship out replacement tubes and ordered a set of Sovtek 5881s so I can at least confirm whether or not it’s just a bad tube or something worse. I really don’t want to ship it off though, so here’s hoping it just a bad tube.

Any recommendations for where to begin with bass guitar?

Looking for videos, books or places to get started. Found a few things on TPB which I'll give a go. They're all a bit dated, but I imagine not much has changed. Not sure what to make of the youtube options.

Just picked up my old bass from my parents' house. Haven't touched it in maybe 15 years, and even then had barely started, so am basically starting from square one. I had played six string right handed prior, but I never really took to it.

Pic related, though mine is 4 string and left handed

I recommend doing the beginner to badass course at bass buzz, it might still be on sale. it costs money but it’s easily the most fun and productive thing you can do as a beginner. after that I would go to talkingbass.net and get the creative bassist course. if you wanted to minmax your build I would just take those two things. this is coming from someone who has completed both of those courses, probably half a dozen other courses from all the big names and has spent at least another $800 on books
