I don't get it. It's just jazz.

I don't think the music matches the cover at all.
>>
>>128714577
this is one of the least "just jazz" albums you could have picked

>add electric guitar
>jazzfags shit their pants
This is why your genre died
>>
>>128714863
you're retarded, deaf, and know nothing about music.

It's amazing, Miles' best work after Kind of Blue.

>Fusionslop
>"It's just jazz"
OP is retarded and his bait thread is gay and also retarded.
>>
Do people care about jazz in 2025? Are there any jazz musicians that actually have a career?
>>
>>128717110
Yes and yes.
>>
>>128717162
Can you show me some famous - or locally famous - current-year jazz musicians under 40?
>>
Miles in the Sky absolutely mogs what became before and after. I don't understand why Nefertiti, In a Silent Way, etc. get endless praise while everyone overlooks this.
Stuff is one of Miles' best cuts, and George Benson's guitar work on Paraphernalia is some of the best in the genre. Side B doesn't hold up quite as much, but still solid.
>>
>>128714577
yes
>>
>>128717245
there are a few under 40 that are famous enough to tour all over the world but they are basically unknown to people who dont listen to jazz
>>
>>128714605
please tell me you're still underaged, no adult should be this retarded
>>
>>128714863
that didnt happen
>>
>>128718443
because it's his shittiest 2nd quintet album by far, dud. nefertiti has incredible rhythm section interplay and shorter's high T compositions
>>
>>128717110
>>128717245
there's a pretty big london jazz scene which over the last 10 years or so has produced a bunch of artists that tour globally to decent sized appreciative crowds, I only know them cos youtube is forever shilling them to me but some are pretty good good: shabaka hutchings , kamaal williams, yusef dayes, alfa mist, etc.
I'd say most are generally an extensions of "dilla jazz" or people who just discovered jazz through hiphop samples, you could also connect them to the type of groovy fusion miles was doing in his electric era.
>>
>>128714605
Do me a favor, listen to these five albums back to back:
>Gets / Gilberto
>Machine Gun
>In a Silent Way
>The Koln Condert
>Heavy Weather
If those five albums all sound the same to you then youre truly hopeless.
>>128717089
>If I say 'retarded' enough that makes it not jazz anymore!
Jazz purists are embarrassing and make my favorite genre look worse. You are not helping the whole "jazz fans are snobs" stereotype.
>>

he's not a fan he's just a rando

Was also gonna add Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah but he's 42

So you're saying that claiming fusion is "just jazz" is not completely wrong? Then you're as retarded as the anon i replied too.

OH sorry I misinterpreted you and thought you were being one of those 'not real jazz' jack-offs.
Fusion, by definition, is more than just jazz, so you're correct.

It's really a shame that the popular notion of 'jazz' never really evolved past Miles Davis and Coltrane.

If you want to hear contemporary jazz I highly recommend you check out ECM records
>>
>>128732412
It never needed to. They solved the genre. Only black supremacists and self hating jazz school whites are interested in the sleepy, brooding world of neo-soul infused modern "jazz." It's gay, and insists it's as deep as the ocean.
>>
i hate neo soul, and i hate more whites pretending to be "feeling it" when they play some overprocessed lame ass bass line
>>
>>128732463
neo-soul is a teeny tiny fragment of what comtemporary jazz has to offer you ignorant buffoon
I do not understand why people on this site talk so confidently about subjects they clearly don't even have the bare minimum of knowledge/experience to engage with.
you're like those redditors who judge all of modern music by whats on the billboard top 40.
>>
>>128714595
actually, it is
proof enough is that jazz rock (jazz) is obviously different from rock jazz (rock: see Embryo [krautrock], for instance)

If the answer is no to any of the questions above you will NEVER fully get jazz
