Do we talk amps in here?

I am wondering why I can't just plug one of these into a stereo head and produce a killer sound

I have a ibanez tube screamer and the sound just isn't the same when I plugged it into my stereo as opposed to my guitar amp

my guitar amp is fried and I was looking for a cheap alternative to the sound my old amp used to make

What's the difference between an amp and a stereo head?

You can plug a modeler into a flat response stereo. The zone sounds good still going through a guitar power amp and mid focused guitar speakers. This is why impulse responses were created.

A position is the range you can cover with four fingers. The first position is the open strings and the first four frets. 2nd position is frets 2-5 etc. if you’re playing any genre that uses power chords or open chords you can abandon theory entirely because it’s rudimentary music anyway

$150 Glarrys are perfectly serviceable. $300 Firefly guitars are nice. There's no real reason to spend more than $500 on a guitar. Save your money for an amp.
>>
>>128756606
Get an American Fender reissue, you sound like you're probably a pretty old dude. Your life will be over soon and life is too short to waste your time on bullshit gear. If you want to be one of those dweebs that's on reddit showing off their mods to their squiers instead of playing that's fine too I guess. For me, i'll spend the limited time I have playing nice guitars instead of modding cheap ones (i've done that before too, it's a waste of time if you've got the money for something that's already nice)
>>
>>128756718
finger limitations cause you to voice chords differently and therefore they have a different sound. Billions of albums have been sold using cowboy G C D chords so it’s up to you what you want to learn or use on the fretboard
>>
modding midranged guitars is miles better than modding cheapshit guitars because there's a solid foundation already. if you fell for a guitar that says fucking glarry on the headstock, lol
>>
>>128756722
>There's no real reason to spend more than $500 on a guitar
I'd hate to even spend that for a shitplank I plan to mod on... because the mods would eventually rival or surpass the guitar's price.

>>128756764
I'd just leave a Squier alone if I had one. Like anon said above, a good guitar to futz around with has a good base to work with already. Probably a $1k guitar at least. Something with good woods, but skimps on the hw and electronics.
>>
>>128756807
At the very least I would put a set of gotoh tuners and pay for a plek or proper fret leveling or setup on a squier. upgrading the electronics is not a worthwhile investment

Don’t fall for the Mastery meme. Their bridges fix a very, very specific problem that a simple setup will also fix or that a different bridge a third of the cost will also fix. Their vibrato units are a total waste of money compared to basic old AVRI Fender hardware which is also cheaper.

I'm not sure. I don't switch it often. The handling on the the pedal itself is a pain in the ass in general though. I just use it to emulate amps i don't own or can recreate and run my pedalboard into it.
>>
>>128756955
Idk why you think I was considering one. I'm talking about people who upgraded their Squier with a bridge worth more than the entire guitar.
>>
$215 and no trem lock, and the bridge will be another $215

The good thing about MIMs is their hw is on par with Americans afaik. Nowadays, not in the past. But electronics are not.

>>128757116
Obviously also ugly as hell >>128756866 and not even solving all issues as you can't adjust the height of each single string separately. At least some others like pic related tried fixing that too but i still wouldn't pay so much money when a Mustang bridge works well enough.

>>128756132
You're replicating a guitar speaker mostly. You can push the mz with any piece of shit like a gpa100 or computer stereo or a $5 mono amp module.
Guitar gear is voiced for guitar. Normal equipment isn't voiced. You have a guitar preamp pedal. Modeler pedals simulate whatever you tell them to, but they don't push the speakers.
>>

7th fret D string
7th fret G string
3rd fret A string
5th fret D string

>>
>>128757606
if overdrives didn’t change the tone there wouldn’t be 875 different overdrives on the market. even if you bypass or roll off the color circuit the drive can cause clipping or tube breakup which affects the tone. why do people use 37 different guitar pedals instead of a better amp or a modeler? Idk

you could do anywhere with it but you have to decide what key you’re in. either you can just keep bouncing back and forth between those two chords, maybe they’re the 5th and 4th chord of your key etc. maybe it’s part of a 1-5-6-2 we just don’t know there’s not enough to go on. try doing fret 1, 3 and 3 and then hit the open A string for a whole bar and then start over

The least comfortable one is actually the colorful fabric one because the buckle sits right between my shoulders and there closely followed by the Stringjoy leather one because it’s thin hard leather. The other leather ones are all either soft and pliable, wide, or have suede lining or any combination of the three and they’re all very comfy. Leather straps being uncomfortable only applies if you’re buying shitty leather

no, there are no rules here

Technically yes but not really. You have to establish the key center eventually or it won’t feel like that key. A good example is Waylon Jennings Where Corn Don’t Grow. It’s a 2-5-1 that stays predominantly on the 2 but the melody revolves around the tonic chord.

In the early spring (March15-17) of 1968, Jerry Garcia threw Phil Lesh down a flight of stairs...
---
“Even worse, I suddenly noticed that Jerry was glaring at me from across the stage — something that had never happened before. I was so distressed that I stared blankly back at him.

“After the show, as I was trying to slink out without anyone noticing, I encountered Jerry at the top of the stairs leading to the dressing room. He grabbed me by the collar, and snarled, ‘You play, motherfucker!’ and shoved me aside. I tripped over my own feet and fell down the stairs right on my ass. Jerry was normally such a sweetheart that I was shocked beyond belief at being physically manhandled by him. I must have provoked him beyond reason, something I promised myself I would avoid assiduously in the future.”

Lesh left the gig that night and was promptly splashed and drenched by passing police car driving through a large puddle. According to Lesh, Garcia apologized for the altercation when the band gathered at the Carousel for the following evening’s show.
