Who would you say is the best technically guitar player on the planet?
>>128764806Technically guitar? Maybe one of those guitar hero youtubers or rocksmith or whatever
Sam Campos
>>128764806ESL postAlso The correct answer is:Yngwie Malmsteenbecause how can less be more? more is more.
>>128765039I would have never guessed the Hayleyfag is also a Yngwiefag.
>>128765043he is mega based and bach pilled
This guy

>>128765152G3
>>128764806Anton is ridiculous, incredibly mature technique at like 7 years old and still improving to this day.Too bad his educational content is locked behind a bunch of shady expensive telegram groups in cyrillic. >>128765039Very early Yngwie is unironically underrated. In those very, very early demos and live bootlegs the amount of detail in his playing is unparalleled. You can even hear nuances in musicality ins his fucking pick angle while muting the strings and not playing.>>128765094I wish I liked Extreme more than I do because Nuno is one of the most "complete" players I've ever heard. Great riffs, great leads, great vocals even.
>>128765306based
>>128764806yeah that guy is one of them.also Yngwie, Paul Gilbert (Anton's main influence), Shawn Lane, Guthrie, Gambale, Holdsworth, and some random metal guys if you count non-improvised stuff.honorable mention to John McLaughlin on acoustic.

>>128765145Vai is soo good he only needs one hand to shredhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMjmjXHJoPg
Annie Clark can easily outplay any zoomer: https://youtu.be/11JiKTyMm7M
Focus on technicals leads to bland "art" and is ultimately fucking garbage.
>>128764806Eric Johnson is technically a guitar player. He's also a great virtuoso.
>>128764806Who cares
>>128765865I care.
>>128765717sounds fucking beautiful what the hell
>>128765873Why? You gonna make a tier list on tiermaker that won't matter? You gonna write him a love letter?
>>128765906yes
>>128765746yeah but she's a woman so she doesn't have a soul. the only female music artists with a soul are singers, dancers, and classical musicians, i.e. things where the fact that it's a woman doing it is directly relevant, or things that involve extensive coaching, showing glimpses of the endless love that is poured into privileged girls who show any kind of talent. that's the kind of shit i want to hear from a woman, the two feelings that they are truly unbeatable at conveying are "look i'm hot" and "look my life is perfect".a woman that does both? holy shit sign me up right now.a broke woman that actually rose through the ranks? fuck off, i see enough of those in HR.
>>12876586510/10 post, great stuff
>>128765717thanks. I guess I will quit playing now....
Probably some unknown guy playing at some bar somewhere in a small town.
>>128766708I would hope a random guy playing in a bar isn't playing some retarded shredding
>>128765717I love melodic shredding its so fucking kino holy shitGod Bless Steve VaiLife is good and worth living holy shit I'm happy to exist here in this period, today where I'm able to listen to such beautiful melodies.

how many humans on planet earth can play 300+ bpm bebop lines like this? does anyone have a rough estimate? https://www.youtube.com/shorts/9D2fDh62LWk?feature=share
>>128765770>stop getting good at your craft >:(
but seriously how many people can actually play like this? https://youtu.be/IQ7y9D_gi2k

>>128764806Doesn't matter. Catchy riffs matter.
>>128772039>Doesn't matter. Catchy riffs matter. That was basically what Helmet went by.It worked out pretty good for them, I'd say.
>>128772337They all blend together past three or so songs.
Best guitarist probably king crimson or something dawg... Kevin shields technicality is on another level tho He actually modified his instruments and shit. . more is more yes but it's like comparing diamond to coal
>>128768944>>128771156Very dexterous. I think I prefer the pianist's solo though, and the drum solo was a chore.
>>128765145I liked Building the Church and disliked Is There Love in Space, but I did like the latter's solo at 2:24.
>>128768944>>128771156I know how hard this is to do, but I think that was a pretty sloppy-sounding solo. If you're going to play something where you can't produce nor change the notes cleanly, and are constrained to a certain kind of phrasing, even if it's the instrument's fault and not yours it's just going to be a circus act and the only audience is other guitarists. Emmet's solo was much more nicer because keyboards are faster and you can play longer straight lines on them even though I like Pasquale much more in general.
>>128772665>much nicer*
>>128765717That was better than I expected.>>128766999Have you heard the Alcatrazz album Disturbing the Piece? Vai's all over it. His style was a better fit for the band than Yngwie's IMO.
>>128765717I swear Steve Vai would be on my like top 10 favorite musicians in any genre if his music weren't so much about guitar, like if he had a singer or at least compositions that involved a lot of other things like prog often does. He's incredibly good, it's just that he's one person and after a while you get tired of hearing one person's ideas constantly, no matter who it is. You can get so much more out of 2 or 3 artists working off of each other.
>>128765717This is pretty cool but the music is just whatever forgettable crap I've heard a million times now.
>>128773433I literally never heard that beautiful melody he does at the start. The rest i concede it's his typical random G3 shredding. But that doesnt remove any merit, the "first momement" he does in that song is incredible and beautiful sounding.
>>128764806define your terms what EXACTLY do you mean?
>>128773572OP is ESL dont worry about it who cares what he thinks post awesome Guitar Instrumentals.
>>128765717Sounds like bootleg Van Halen
>>128767460>it's realhow
Sure, these shred guys playing a million notes per minute definitely do possess skills most guitarists don't nor ever will possess, but for my part I prefer guys like Ben Monder that do intricate polyphonic work as it requires a lot more coordination and is much more challenging musically.
>>128773761
Saying you don't want to shred is like saying you don't want a nice body.Even if you're the very rare case who's actually sincere when they say this, you're still fat and gay.
>>128765717I cant stop watching this lol>the music is just whatevermeh. its unmistakably Vai tho- instantly recognizable with his quirky melodies and sprinklings of Alien speak. Of all the shredders, he is the most unique with his compositions and sense of weird.he made an album with Devin Townsend singing...Of course the Masterpiece of Eat 'Em and Smile cant be overlooked:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtwBJycUihw
>>128776126kek
>>128773186>compositions that involved a lot of other things like prog often does.Have you heard this? this is kinda proggy and has keyboards. of course he played the piano himself. dont worry the bees dont stinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVE5QO-rYkM
>>128775634>guys like Ben Monder that do intricate polyphonic workI'm interested. Post a track of his, or other artists that come to mind.

>>128772022he does good stuff
>>128779613Yeah, that is prog and he still surprises me with his versatility, but I still think it could have been better if it were less guitar-oriented and involved other people. Think Rush type stuff, with the right people, he could have blown that into the next universe.>>128779637If you want polyphony, herehttps://youtu.be/6jGm1_6eKeUhttps://youtu.be/VjDGYFZuJSUYou probably think it's hard, it's even harder than that, by a lot, and in ways you don't usually think of.
