The correct answer is:
Yngwie Malmsteen
because how can less be more? more is more.

Anton is ridiculous, incredibly mature technique at like 7 years old and still improving to this day.Too bad his educational content is locked behind a bunch of shady expensive telegram groups in cyrillic.

>>128765039
Very early Yngwie is unironically underrated. In those very, very early demos and live bootlegs the amount of detail in his playing is unparalleled. You can even hear nuances in musicality ins his fucking pick angle while muting the strings and not playing.

>>128765094
I wish I liked Extreme more than I do because Nuno is one of the most "complete" players I've ever heard. Great riffs, great leads, great vocals even.

yeah but she's a woman so she doesn't have a soul. the only female music artists with a soul are singers, dancers, and classical musicians, i.e. things where the fact that it's a woman doing it is directly relevant, or things that involve extensive coaching, showing glimpses of the endless love that is poured into privileged girls who show any kind of talent. that's the kind of shit i want to hear from a woman, the two feelings that they are truly unbeatable at conveying are "look i'm hot" and "look my life is perfect".
a woman that does both? holy shit sign me up right now.
a broke woman that actually rose through the ranks? fuck off, i see enough of those in HR.

That was basically what Helmet went by.

Very dexterous. I think I prefer the pianist's solo though, and the drum solo was a chore.
>>
>>128765145
I liked Building the Church and disliked Is There Love in Space, but I did like the latter's solo at 2:24.
>>
>>128768944
>>128771156
I know how hard this is to do, but I think that was a pretty sloppy-sounding solo. If you're going to play something where you can't produce nor change the notes cleanly, and are constrained to a certain kind of phrasing, even if it's the instrument's fault and not yours it's just going to be a circus act and the only audience is other guitarists. Emmet's solo was much more nicer because keyboards are faster and you can play longer straight lines on them even though I like Pasquale much more in general.
>>
>>128772665
>much nicer*
>>
>>128765717
That was better than I expected.
>>128766999
Have you heard the Alcatrazz album Disturbing the Piece? Vai's all over it. His style was a better fit for the band than Yngwie's IMO.
>>
>>128765717
I swear Steve Vai would be on my like top 10 favorite musicians in any genre if his music weren't so much about guitar, like if he had a singer or at least compositions that involved a lot of other things like prog often does.
He's incredibly good, it's just that he's one person and after a while you get tired of hearing one person's ideas constantly, no matter who it is. You can get so much more out of 2 or 3 artists working off of each other.
>>
>>128765717
This is pretty cool but the music is just whatever forgettable crap I've heard a million times now.
>>
>>128773433
I literally never heard that beautiful melody he does at the start.
The rest i concede it's his typical random G3 shredding. But that doesnt remove any merit, the "first momement" he does in that song is incredible and beautiful sounding.

Sure, these shred guys playing a million notes per minute definitely do possess skills most guitarists don't nor ever will possess, but for my part I prefer guys like Ben Monder that do intricate polyphonic work as it requires a lot more coordination and is much more challenging musically.

Saying you don't want to shred is like saying you don't want a nice body.
Even if you're the very rare case who's actually sincere when they say this, you're still fat and gay.

meh. its unmistakably Vai tho- instantly recognizable with his quirky melodies and sprinklings of Alien speak. Of all the shredders, he is the most unique with his compositions and sense of weird.

he made an album with Devin Townsend singing...

Of course the Masterpiece of Eat 'Em and Smile cant be overlooked:

Yeah, that is prog and he still surprises me with his versatility, but I still think it could have been better if it were less guitar-oriented and involved other people. Think Rush type stuff, with the right people, he could have blown that into the next universe.
