>>128800953you can't practice with the effects because of latency, right? don't most people record through a mic on a tube amp? why not just get a cheap digital multi-effects pedal? I don't because it's easier to run pedals. It's quicker to make adjustments and change the order of effects. I also have a super cheap computer so I couldn't run plugins anyways. So there's your answer, it's cheaper and easier and sound better to have a tube amp and good pedals. also if i wanted to perform live i'm already setup. how much a computer with the software and direct input for guitar and all the plugins n shit? thousands too? yeah. why not just play keyboard, what's the point of using guitar? also good pedals don't lose value like computer junk
>>128802015>you can't practice with the effects because of latency, right? You can set the latency to practically zero.>don't most people record through a mic on a tube amp?Actually, not so much nowadays.>why not just get a cheap digital multi-effects pedal?Because amp simulators already exist.>I don't because it's easier to run pedals. It's quicker to make adjustments and change the order of effects.Even easier digitally.>I also have a super cheap computer so I couldn't run plugins anyways. So invest in RAM, still far cheaper than pedals.>So there's your answer, it's cheaper and easier and sound better to have a tube amp and good pedals.See above.>also if i wanted to perform live i'm already setup. So am I. Just click on guitar_live.flp and I'm good to go.>how much a computer with the software and direct input for guitar and all the plugins n shit? thousands too? There are free DAWs and VSTs, otherwise piracy is a straightforward option.>yeah. why not just play keyboard, what's the point of using guitar? Why not just play piano? What's the point of using a keyboard?>also good pedals don't lose value like computer junkGuitar pedals are a type of computer. Plugins are 1s and 0s, they can never depreciate.
>>128802015>also good pedals don't lose value like computer junkpedals and electric guitars are computer junk too, you underage poser

>>128804573Pretty sure he's referring to virtual amps
>>128804005analog basically means cheap computer in music electronics. regarding latency:“The precedence effect or law of the first wavefront is a binaural psychoacoustical effect concerning sound reflection and the perception of echoes. When two versions of the same sound presented are separated by a sufficiently short time delay (below the listener's echo threshold), listeners perceive a single auditory event; its perceived spatial location is dominated by the location of the first-arriving sound (the first wave front). The lagging sound does also affect the perceived location; however, its effect is mostly suppressed by the first-arriving sound.”
>>128804274Kek, he does look like a SóyBoe
Producer guy needs to get people to listen to his musicInstrument guy just needs to land a gig
>>12880386390s and late 80s indie bands used them because they were cheaper second string product line from Fender, along with Jaguars and MustangsNowadays people use them because they idolize those 90s bands while Fender capitalizes on it by marking up the prices 1000%
Spending money on gear when you could do more by practicing and getting good

>>128800953Niggas still pretend those shit ass plugins can replicate or mog analog equipment... nigga stfu, it's only a question of time before yung zoomers / alphas realize those uncslop plugins are complete ass and go back to the basics, a retvrn if you'd like.
anybody here who doesnt make music with guitar pedals AND computer fx is a creativelet and should be shamed for limited, puritan views.
>>128809411Lolol I have played around with a friend’s fractal and it sounds great but the feel/responsiveness isn’t really the same as a physical amp. I played acoustic stringed instruments before ever playing electric guitar so I want my instruments to be responsive to dynamics. This is where modelers fall flat to me. I also like simplicity and usually play straight into my amps with 1 or 2 pedals. I think spending thousands on pedals/effects or spending the time to replicate said thousands with plugins are both diversions from playing and being a good musician.
>>128800953https://youtu.be/6GDfwuMSjag"Plugins" are Not "Gear", Faggot
>>128800953Dials, buttons and switches are fun, tho. I’m sure it’s not hard to replicate practically any effects unit in a DAW, but I would much rather manually dial in my tone because there is something innately satisfying about doing something practical and tactile and getting immediate feedback from it. If there is no discernible difference between digital plugins and physical gear, and you have the disposable income to waste, why would you pick the option that produces exactly the same sound but is far more tedious to do?
