Have any of you ever teared up at a concert, not from any emotionalism of the song, but out of sheer bliss as to the level of musical skill of the performers?

Kenny G's band has been together for 35 years. He's been playing with his pianist since high school. They don't play a set on auto-pilot, they have fun. You can see them enjoying each member's solo. They're all AMAZINGLY good and they mesh together with absolutely perfect timing. They mentioned getting to the venue 8 hours before the concert and you can tell they put time into adjusting every instrument for the acoustics of the venue. Everything down to the tiniest *ting* of the percussionist's bells is just spot-on.

I don't even listen to their music but I drove 2 hours to see them for the second time yesterday.

Man, I put together a budget used sound system that I consider "better than most" with Aiwa 4-ways and a Sony 8" powered sub hooked to a Denon AVR-2803, but trying to listen to the CD I picked up is really showing its severe limitations compared to live. Where are the super airy highs? They're just not there. Fuck.

Anyway, if you have the chance to see them, you should. His tickets aren't even expensive. I paid $90 for the first one and $110 for the second.

Yeah I mean, this is what music should really be about, pure joy and delight of the soul.
