Do you like Maggie Rogers? Her early work was a little too Folksy for my tastes, but when Heard It in a Past Life came out in '19, I think she really came into her own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. She's been compared to Phoebe Bridgers, but I think Maggie has a far more romantic and optimistic vision. In 2022, Maggie released this, Surrender, her most accomplished album. I think her undisputed masterpiece is "Want Want", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of making love and the importance of overcoming first time anxiety with the lover of your dreams, it's also a personal statement about the woman herself.HEY /MU/!
