how does that make you feel anons? what happened for things to turn out like this?

Music last good decade was the 2000s, there was a lot of crap back then too, but it got excessively worse in the 2010s, when music turned into poptimism vs cRap, which latter would be joined by some of the most mediocre indie bands (geese etc...) online music discussion. Not only bands died out, but innovation too, now is just rehashed trash on and on, AI will not cause much damage to music, since it's already an sterile field.
>>
at least there's some random indie people making decent stuff these days, more so than what i remember from that time
>>

little tune from 1961 that's better than the entire discographies of all those people in the OP
>>
mostly mass produced shit that retarded middle aged white women listen to
>>
can be mediocre at best sometimes lul
>>
>>128843112
That's existed in every decade. You think Perry Como wasn't a thing once?
>>
>>128843129
im not even gonna lie, you arent wrong. i just think it sounds like horseshit
>>
>>128843129
Still, none of that was as awful or as boring as 80s-90s AC slop like "Time Of Your Life" or "Right Here Waiting."
>>
>>128842526
2020s are absolutely worse
>>
>>128843703
2020s are pathetic..barely anyone even tries anymore. At least there was some catchy fun stuff in the 2010s. Now is just sad and even sadder when retarded morons praise the most mid shit
>>
>>128842526
I don't care. There's already enough music, we don't need more. I haven't knowingly listened to any of those musicians and it's unlikely I've listened to them unknowingly because I don't go anywhere that plays music.

>there is an unprecedented creative stagnation
>it wasn't even this bad during the great depression
>i don't care, stuff has already been made

The rapid growth of technology and social media, the lowering of the bar for music production, and access to any music from anywhere in the world have all led to oversaturation and devaluation
>>
>>128842526
At least there was some personality to the 2010s. I disagree with this post cause I can at least remember 2010s music. 2020s music is bland, boring, generic, too cool for school, they aren't even trying anymore. Like actually making an effort is beneath them. I would much rather listen to 2010s Drake, Katy Perry Gaga, Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Kesha than Billie Eilish, MGK, and whatever is trendy on tik tok
>>
>>128842526
I'm pretty sure there were more than 10 people making music at that time

que?
>>
>>128842526
all of them still relevant except the chainsmokers, what happened to them?
>>
>>128847381
Rihanna's last album was 2016.
>>
>>128847413
if rihanna released an album right now with no promo it would go number #1. she's just focusing on her kids and make up business instead but otherwise she's still relevant
>>
>>128847498
nobody ever found late 30s women with 2 kids marketable or cool as a pop star, especially when they haven't put out anything in almost a decade, so no
>>
>>128842526
2020s are far worse so far
>>
>>128842624
2000s saw the death of scenes. 2010s saw the remainders die off. 2020s is what it sounds like when there are no scenes anymore (LARPs don't count now - doesn't matter anymore if there's an active punk scene in northwest Indiana or whatever, which even the 2010s managed to work out a little). There's everything and nothing.
>>
>>128843703
this, at least the people on that 2010s list are actually famous
>>
>>128847413
and she has 100 million listeners on spotify, that makes it even more impressive
>>
>>128847633
well, her music is from before the 2020s, which means it's remembered

The 'top' albums of 2010s and 2020s (so far)
>>
>>128846982
i can't compare pop of 2010s and 2020s because i've listened to a combined 10 minutes of 2020s pop, but "at least we had Katy Perry" reads almost like a joke because i was there, i know how that shit sounded. if anything, i like the writing in today's pop slightly more.
but i wasn't really talking about pop in the first place, i'm talking about the possibility to find something truly great that you love, niche or not. the way that drops between "before 2010s" and after (and during) is insane, and although there was still a trickle of good stuff in the last two decades, with the 2010s it's worse because it's usually the last few good things from some niche artists who were active before, whereas now it's from unknown people who are starting out, so things seem to be slowly improving.
it's like there was an artistic black hole (alongside david guetta) in that time, especially starting from 2016.

Just personal opinion but the world adjusting to an internet world might have had something to do with that shift from pre 2010s culture where there was still people buying cds to myspace and then a new electronic world where everything is connected. If the 2020s is worse than the 2010s, the reason why it got there is because it started in the 2010s. Saying the 2010s is better than the 2020s for me is not only a matter of personal like but like asking if you would like to have a drink of clorox or a drink of windex. One is one barely better than the other one but not by a lot. I am not saying Katy Perry was great pop, but when I think of 2010s music which I was also there for there are more tracks that stand out and have some sort of hook, some structure, god damn they actually tried to make a pop song and it worked.

Then I listen to whatever is hot right now like billie eilish, ice spice, sabrina carpenter, I don't even know any other artists cause they don't do it for me and don't stand out in any way.
Even mid 2010s stuff like emo rap, soundcloud rap, had some personality to them that I can point out or actually enjoy.
>>
>>128847514
no one gives a shit about that anymore. you have people blowing up while pushing 30/in their 30's
>>
>>128847850
Going by that chart, the 2020s are slightly better than the 2010s, when rap dominated, and kendrick/cRap glazing scum jwanted all albums on the top to be just cRap, or swans, vermin teen wiggers. Grim situation for music in general...
>>
>>128848337
>ice spice
i see your point lol. as far as i can see she was trying (and succeeded) to make it and get famous by force. probably relatable if you're that sort of person. i actually hadn't thought about it like this until now.
and i guess that very weird Katy Perry video makes sense if you've lived it...which i didn't think about before either.
maybe i will understand Bruno Mars within my lifetime.
>>
yeah maybe what goes over my head is the hedonism
