It's a joke genre that basically stood on aesthetics, everyone ran out of obscure 80s synth pop to slow down and cut up, and it's basically never really going to be touched by corporations for various reasons, so it's no real force for it to come back. Everyone decided not to bother with the music (because it's a joke) and became aesthetic fags who now circlejerk over Frutiger Aero and similar shit... and Frutiger Aero ain't coming back either.But who knows, maybe 2010s nostalgia will come.
