Which of the regular /mu/ core albums are your favorite? If I had to make a top 5 list it would be something like:
>1. Stereolab - transient random-noise bursts with announcements
>2. Fugazi - Repeater
>3. Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights
>4. Jesus Lizard - Goat
>5. TVU&N - S/T

Anyway. Top 4, soft ranking:
>Slint - Spiderland
>Duster - Stratosphere
>the Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I
>the Microhpones - The Glow, Pt. 2
Most of these I return to pretty often, if not regularly in the case of Emergency & I, and I think all had a pretty dramatic influence on my taste. I feel split on a few albums for fifth, but what surprises me is a weird omission from the chart so I'll say
>Women - Public Strain
which is definitely /mu/core even if it's not in the chart.

From /mu/core and sub-/mu/core:
>ITAOTS
>ITCOTCK
>The Velvet Underground & Nico
>The Money Store
>Exmilitary
>>
>>128853912
I haven't listened to all of them, in fact I've been meaning to do just that, but I have listened to all the essential /mu/core and I can say the best are
>Kid A
>Merryweather Post Pavilion
>In the Court of the Crimson King
>Pet Sounds
>My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
>>

>/mu/core
The only ones I've listened to are King Crimson and Pet Sounds, but I like them a lot.
>sub-/mu/-core
The Nirvana albums and Grace. And some of Demon Days but I haven't listened to that in a long time.
>classics
There are so many great ones there, hard to pick favorites, but in no order I'd call out What's Going On, Ziggy Stardust, Aja, Are You Experienced, Pink Moon, and American Beauty. Fwiw my favorite Beatles album is Rubber Soul, but I like the other ones.
>hip-hop
I'm a big fan of 3 Feet High but I haven't listened to anything else there.
>bleeps
I don't know any of these.
>jazz
Again hard to choose. I'd call out Kind of Blue, Bill Evans (both), Head Hunters, Getz/Gilberto, and Speak No Evil.
I think /mu/ should branch out into some contemporary stuff with jazz, there's some good things happening.
>metal
There are some songs here and there that I like but I don't know any of the albums well enough to say I like them.

Based off this chart, I would have to go
1.)loveless
2.)TVU&N
3.)yeezus
4.)transient tone bursts
5.in utero
>>
>>128853912
>Sheer quality
Loveless
VU & Nico
Souvlaki
Nevermind
Psychocandy
>Diverse top (1 album from a different genre each)
Loveless
Yeezus
SAW I
Jane Doe
Power, Corruption and Lies
Kinda surprised by how plebeian the OG /mu/core seems by now, and how far I've gotten in my musical journey. All of this shit seems like the most entry level avant-teen shit to me now, it's hard to believe some of these albums were quote unquote "obscure" at some point in time.

Sorry I didn’t realize the quality would be that bad
