There's not a single song here where he needs to be doing that.

For teh longest time i thought it was a flag and he was trying to bury the pole
>>
>>128857637
its funny the everybody listens to the Clash for the first time expecting hardcore punk and is confused its easly listening rock-pop
>>
There's only two good songs on this album
>>
>>128858137
Still a top 3 punk band
>>
>>128858169
*Bad
I haven't heard it in a while, but I remember a long sequence of one banger after another and being pleasantly surprised by it.
>>
ive always thought it, the clash are indie-rock at fucking best
>>
>>128858137
that's precisely what made music nerds love this album
a punk band making rock-pop or songs of other genres still with a punk feel into them and nailing it, exploring different more accessible public radio-friendly sounds and been surprisingly great at it
>>
>>128858220
Not really:
>Ramones
>Misfits
>Damned
Clash isn't even top 20. Garbage fake band.
>>

Holy cow - youve got to be kidding. This band was without doubt the most spineless and lamest of 'punk' acts. They sound exactly like they were - pub-rock Bandwagon jumpers. The debut was a tinny, cowardly super-fake sack of tripe - this album was where they tried to get all arty and break away from the 'punk' label (which they never were in the first place) and thus is a mish-mash of styles including pure pop, rock and roll, doo-wop, reggae and god knows what else. Nice idea, but the clash were just too talentless to pull it off. I saw this band way back in late 76 and thought then what a bunch of fake poseurs they were - Joe strummer the upper middle class voice of the working class! what a laugh. This band were so fake its just unbelivable that anyone bought into it at all. But then again, people read the sun newspaper, vote for politicians, watch eastenders, eat in mcdonalds etc. Talk about the great rock and roll swindle - this is it kids!

I'm guessing people here are hating on this album because of Spanish Bombs

yep. complete freedom, unbounded creativity. all channels open. it's so satisfying to hear a band operating on levels like these, and so rare

Every song is great, you faggot.

Contrarian retard.

they're one of those "punk" bands that nobody actually listened to outside the UK in the 70s, part of a US punk scene in the early 80s and I don't think I ever heard one person mention them or put on music of theirs, couldn't escape seeing their pop music hits on MTV though

Machine Gun Etiquette (The Damned) > London Calling (The Clash)
London Calling gets bloated much like the Minutemen's Double Nickels on a Dime. There are plenty of filler tracks on both. Is it them at their most experimental and artistic and varied? Yes. They try different styles while still having a punk attitude, they pushed the genre forward and where innovators but I prefer the leaner MGE that has some incredible guitar work and hints of 70s rock, 60s British rock and roll, over the reggae, dub, and poppiness of LC
>>
>>128859697
I'll take Mick Jones' songs alone on London Calling versus anything done by The Damned, and I really like The Damned.
>>
>>128857637
guns of brixton is my favorite gorillaz song
>>
>>128857637
>Punkfishing
>>
>>128859806
I wouldn't disagree with that. The clash's overall body of work is leagues better than the damned but 3rd album to 3rd album and my personal opinion means MGE is leaner and more electric than the varied LC for me. LC has several highs and lows. The highs really deliver but the lows get boring or forgettable. Nothing bad, just not great and could be done away with

Other way around. The Damned were great until Phantasmagoria (7 albums) and have released three very good albums over the past 16 years, whereas The Clash only released four great albums, but London Calling is the best album from either band.

If you like garbage then yeah. This album is perfect for you.

It's during the little sperg-out in The Right Profile
>>
>>128858899
That's one of the only good songs, THOUGH. Surely Jones wrote it, along with Lost in the Supermarket.
>>
>>128860844
Strummer wrote both songs, he just didn't want to sing Lost in the Supermarket as he thought Jones' voice better suited the song
>>
>>128857637
Yep, riding the punk wave with easy listening rock. Also look at the size of that scrawny little bitchboi, don't act like a tiger when ur just a giant pussy
>>
>>128860471
Incorrect.
>>
>>128857637
The most entertaining thing The Clash ever did is when they got bullied out of Jamaica.
>>
>>128858531
That doesn't change the fact that the music is good.
>>
>>128859194
Being a homophobe and an ableist isn't Punk Roch chud, do better.
>>
>>128858531
>I saw this band way back in late 76
You would have to be 70 years old for this to be true
>>
Here's where they start showing off. If "Lost in the Supermarket," for instance, is just another alienated-consumption song, it leaps instantly to the head of the genre on the empathy of Mick Jones's vocal. And so it goes. Complaints about "slick" production are absurd--Guy Stevens slick?--and insofar as the purity of the guitar attack is impinged upon by brass, pianner, and shuffle, this is an expansion, not a compromise. A gratifyingly loose Joe Strummer makes virtuoso use of his four-note range, and Paul Simonon has obviously been studying his reggae records. Warm, angry, and thoughtful, confident, melodic, and hard-rocking, this is the best double-LP since Exile on Main Street. And it's selling for about $7.50. A+
>>
>>128857637
any you kids understand the "london calling" lyric?
>>
>>128858169
It's punk. It isn't supposed to be good

>this album was where they tried to get all arty and break away from the 'punk' label (which they never were in the first place) and thus is a mish-mash of styles including pure pop, rock and roll, doo-wop, reggae and god knows what else.
yeah i dont even understand why nerds keep calling them a punk band. that would be like if nerds kept calling ministry a new wave band. makes no sense
>>
>>128860964
rundown?
>>
>>128858389
>with a punk feel into them
Not really, where in tf is the punk in train in vain? Everything is punk if is like it
>>
>>128857637
Lmao he is quasimodo
>>
I hate this album, it's fruity and absolutely ball-less.
