This is not nu metal, it's nu plastic
>>128863413good one. got a flash of microplastics in the balls, all that. might write some lyrics.
>>128859347Honestly, my musical critique of this guy is the same one I have of TX2. Something about the way they perform feels less like they have a strong attachment to this type of music and/or have an artistic passion that they felt emo or in this case nu-metal would be the best way to express, and more like they thought "oh yeah, people are really nostalgic for this genre, zoomers are rediscovering it, and it would go really viral on TikTok. Let's just do that." It's like a corporate marketing exec put this together, though I am pretty sure these guys are independent, but either way, it feels calculated.>>128859398is kinda getting to something, though I think it's more that they don't seem raped enough. One of the key things about new metal is that a lot of it aside from outliers like Limp Bizkit felt dark, or twisted, or at least like an authentic expression of some kind of trauma. Korn was especially big on this, but you can see it in bands like Linkin Park, some Coal Chamber, and early Slipknot too. Nu-metal revivalism has already been done. It didn't blow up online to a massive degree or anything, perhaps due to being too early for Zoomers to be into this via short-form media, but a good modern example of the sound would be Cane Hill. Listening to the writing and performances on Smile conveys a feeling of "oh yeah, this dude actually went through some shit," and if that's not the case, then the dude at least has an unbelievably good Jonathan Davis and Corey Taylor impression and knows how to use them.>>128857812Like, if I was this guy, and I had to find a way to adapt Willy Wonka into nu-metal, i'd probably do something a little similar, but I would at least adjust the lyrics to make it a metaphor. Maybe the candy can be a metaphor for hard drugs, which warp your mind into "pure imagination". This guy plays it straight and assumes Wonka with grills making freaky faces in front of strippers meets the edge quota to ship it, artistic merit be damned.
>>128864054>I would at least adjust the lyrics to make it a metaphor. Maybe the candy can be a metaphor for hard drugs, which warp your mind into "pure imagination"Manso did that in the "Dope Hat" music video. He also included gay scenes, which was considered edgy at the time.
>>128857733Why the FUCK do troons have to make everything about themselves?
