Re-recorded phone demo of a song from a while back. Still don’t know if the song is any good but I can’t seem to let it go.https://vocaroo.com/1hpQy61DTJztAttempt at bossa nova.https://vocaroo.com/1gVUSDNwVpXA
https://vocaroo.com/15hTApIrKtOKi don't know how to make a beat but i tried
Open @ own riskhttps://vocaroo.com/12VnLu2Gy0zV
>>128861352It useable. Will add shit on top of it later
bass is fun! If only I was good at ithttps://vocaroo.com/1ifVmnsukXgA
>>128861352Can you please explain to me what it's for? I'm lame and out of touch and I hear people say "beat" a lot to refer to like something to do with hip hop? >>128861739Oh shit its Joy Division from a parallel dimension where they are actually happy.
>>128861765>Oh shit its Joy Division from a parallel dimension where they are actually happy. That's just new order
Any chance I can get some feedback on this? I'm new to producing and composing but I play a couple of instruments. This is just 8 bars or some ideas I put together. It needs automation and is probably not loud enough https://voca.ro/1kAlJJ1v09bf
>>128861361I actually love this somehow. The 6 Organs of Admittance/Merzbow collab we didn’t know we wanted. What’s making/controlling the noise sound? Is the guitar affecting it somehow, or is it just overdubbed?Obviously the noise would want to be mixed better w/ the guitar for a proper recording, but actually developing this approach could be really worth doing.>>128861739Idk it sounds like your relatively competent and having fun.
>>128863480Well it sounds like a cool intro to something, but I’ve no idea to what because you haven’t written it yet.
This is one of the first pieces of music I made, and I'm sort of fond of it and was going to remaster it becuase ive been told the synth lead in the second half is too loud.https://voca.ro/1bPMYk5K4cavBut when I go to do it I'm confronted with trying to work out what the FUCK happened to spitfire labs. It's part of splice now? Does it still work like before? Are the old libraries there? I like this ominous cello pad...>>128863480It's hard to say. It sounds like an intro, and a fine enough one. I like the sad little lead sound.
Needs a bump. Since someone last thread enjoyed my frankenguitar I'll post another little improv, with the reverb turned up to cover the white noise since I recorded this with a field recorder and have no idea what I'd be doing even with the right tools for the job. https://voca.ro/131nOR4iBQK2Also resin on the strings sticking to my fingers. Oh well. It's still kind of nice.
>>128861361Sounds like a soundtrack for hardcore doom wad
https://voca.ro/1mNXSwpxKEJ9I am no singer. The strings are recorded by music students. Was already in last thread. Any feedback ?
>>128860834always pretty crisp recordings. what mic, anyway? ill die filtered by the vocals i think. you got like a character when you sing? like some bard deal.>>128861352 >>128861385>>128861739something about the groove doesnt feel right to me, lacks a melodic pull.>>128863480only the reversed cymbal at the end suggests "intro" or that somethigns about to happen, but the rest sounds like the meat of some dungeon synth piece, works as a loop that could go forever i feel, inobstrusive loop for a game, waiting scene.>>128863499>6 Organs of Admittance/Merzbowpretty sweet compliment. didnt know 6 organs, thats some nice music, benign, enjoying it a lot. the noise is a fast arpeggio filtered by s&h modulated bandpassfilter, guitar is not affecting the modulation, its all recorded live by cellphone mic, actually was better registered than i expected.>>128863731its neat, vangelis vibe. leads loud and a bit dry, could use some reverb/diffusion.>>128866087i remember this guitar experiment from a couple months ago, thought it was a ghuzeng. its a very full convincing sound, i like it.>>128866564>hardcore doom wadwhats this?>>128866955sounds good, in rainbows vibe. if this is the intro the strings might be bit too sappy and intense at that point. snare could use more wet in the reverb, or brush type drumsticks, maybe that more.
>>128868810>something about the groove doesnt feel right to me, lacks a melodic pull.I can't tell who this is a reply to, or is it for all 3 anons?
>>128868879the one about the groove goes for the bass+beat track. the other two quotes meant that might do something with anons beat (the bare beat 1352 posted ).
>>128868887ok, I'm bass anon. My playing was real sloppy but I just wanted to get the ideas down yesterday. I spent like an hour fucking around with the tone lol
Can't get back to sleep so I'm taking it out on this piano. https://voca.ro/1fu5xvjHOZdy
what genre are we?https://vocaroo.com/1iioq4B4LFsL
>>128868810>always pretty crisp recordings. what mic, anyway?literally just an iPhone 15.>ill die filtered by the vocals i think.yeah, I’ve come to accept everybody here fucking hates my voice. can’t tell if it’s just cause it sounds to gay or because it’s just kinda bad or what.>you got like a character when you sing? like some bard deal.nah, not really. when i perform live I’m usually dressed like a quirked low-key goth, but that’s just… how I dress. I’m usually too nervous and dissociated to try and maintain a persona beyond the one i maintain irl anyway.>>128869592it’s very very good, but genre-tag-wise it’s just indie rock/alternative rock, I reckongives me strong Dinosaur Jr. vibesat a streeeeetttchhhhhhh you could say psych rock because of some of the twiddly bits in the guitar parts but it would be a stretch
>>128870669i stand with your weird voice anon. it's not what i expected from the guitar part but it works. it does have a very "theater" sound to it which is possibly why people ask if you're in a character. i don't think that's a bad thing though
>>128870669>or because it’s just kinda badI dont think so. Its affected yes, for some thats a deal breaker.Bump
>>128870669>sounds to gay or because it’s just kinda bad or what. You're the guy that over pronounces everything. It makes it sound like very dramatic speech that happens to have a melody. It's got a very specific musical theatre vibe that doesn't mesh with the music. It's about as well suited to intimate guitar+vocals as a full opera squillo. You're a skilled musician but I wouldn't listen to your music. You sound like you're a children's entertainer. Your vocal style is like a softboi The Wiggles. You seem like a nice guy and if other people enjoy your music, radical. But your vocals and guitar are a wild mismatch, I think, despite the fact that you actually seem quite good at both.
https://voca.ro/1bpSwW4mAqYVIdk what you even call this kind of music but it was partial inspired by Ace Combat
I made a instrumental that's trying to sound "spacey" https://voca.ro/1vwqI9YupwWY>>128874030That's some jamming music anon. If you had any albums I would listen to them.
>>128874030It sounds like if downtempo had techno as a starting point instead of drum and bass. Speaking of bass.Is there too much bass on this? I thought it was ok but then I listened on my car speakers and it rattled like crazy. https://voca.ro/192LuP2qgRQo
Little tune i madehttps://voca.ro/1WWdSQq4A3Jy
>>128870806>>128872405>>128872654I appreciate both the honesty and fairness, anons.>it's not what i expected from the guitar part>your vocals and guitar are a wild mismatch, I think, despite the fact that you actually seem quite good at bothI sorta get what you mean, but out of interest - what vocal style *would* the guitar parts imply?I guess I grew up playing the ukulele and listening to either angsty dramatic American piano women (which obviously shaped how I sing) or weird experimental shit like Coil or Legendary Pink Dots or whatever. so it’s not like I ever really expected my music to cohere in any particular way beyond “this is what I can do with this instrument”, “this is what I can do with my voice”, and “these are words I can write”. (it was literally music that got me into literature, and now I’m doing a PhD in lit at… somewhere well-known, so I suppose I probably over-enunciate lyrics because I do this instead of writing novels or books or whatever.) >anyway sorry, there’s a biography nobody asked for.
>>128875315I love the really raw lofi, garage-y sound, and the melodies/progressions are very well-written. the keyboard solo is fantastic. unfortunately the vocals are *really* pitchy, which takes away from everything else a bit, which is a shame because you’re clearly talented.
>>128875581>what vocal style *would* the guitar parts imply?I'm not a vocal coach man, but here's my opinion as the person who just compared you to The Wiggles. The use of the human voice in music always exists on a spectrum from wordless sound (voice as instrument) to organ of speech (voice as the medium of words). I haven't listened to your whole oeuvre but in the bits I listened to you generally sing in extremely short, soft, staccato. You lean really hard toward the voice as speech. You carry a melody but most of the singing lacks any of the general uses of voice as instrument (held vowels, legato, vibrato). When you do those more instrumental techniques I can tell you have the voice to do them, and frankly I think more use them would suit the intimate guitar+soft boy sound, which generally uses the guitar to accompany melodic movement in the voice, and to play melodically when the voice is not active. Your voice is a very versatile instrument but you're using it in a really specific way that doesn't take advantage of the setting. Basically, I think your music needs more focus on the sound of your voice as an instrument rather than the sound of your voice as a medium of speech. Hold some vowels, hit some emotional highs, give me some legato. Focus less on the speech element, be willing to sacrifice a little clarity to give me more of the instrument. Right now you're at the centre of like a forbidden triangle of spoken word, baroque recitative, and Billie Eilish. Boilie Eilish if you will.

Is /ai/ allowed here? If not I preemptively apologize.I'm working on the main soundtrack/suite for a space fighter game/opera that take place in the far future on a colonized system/planet. It has all the tropes of your typical /m/ IP. Space Nazis, catgirls, bitch boy pilots that need/get a hard smack to the face and a rival ace pilot that can't stop betraying everyone and seems to be super interested in girls under 20.https://voca.ro/1hbBYvUUXDaqThis is kinda the rough idea for the main suite/sound track for the MC. I'm trying to go for a upbeat theme but still facing impossible odds, everyone hating you (even the very people you are trying to protect) and a constant uphill fight.Obviously I'm just using AI to experiment/test concepts, if I get the funding/support I will have an actual score recorded.Pic not related but the theme I am going for. This is a concept art for a canceled Halo space fighter from the cucks at 343.

https://voca.ro/1bHdTVmNF8gjI always like making random things for these threads
>>128876330Getting the Halo vibe/gregorian chant to mix with sci-fi is honestly nightmare tier difficult. Only the alpha chud Marty O Donnel could pull it off. Too bad the cucked/ neo liberals at 343 & bungie made his life difficult. Assuming that's what your going for. But chorus/melody is good.
>>128876608Sounds like those kids downstairs.are having fun.>random thingsI feel like everything I make is random. Exhibit 1 million:https://voca.ro/1nyiqweX3sFu
