What did more damage to the metal genre overall?
Emo or Nu-Metal
>>
Nu metal obviously are you retarded?
>>
>>128861073
>>128861080
numetal saved metal, retards
>>
>>128861080
Emo had a more lasting impact on metal over the long-term
>>
Emo was never part of metal
>>
Butt Rock, arguably Matchbox 20 and Creed are the most detrimental bands in rock history
>>
>>128861119
I don’t think you know what Emo is
>>
>>128861073
By the efect of emo on metal you mean metalcore? Because metalcore has little to do with metal
>>
>>128861233
Just because it has little to do with metal doesn't mean it didn't do damage to the genre as a whole
>>
>>128861298
all it changed was which opening band i skipped
>>
>>128861073
Most emo is not metal.
>>
Brandon is brootal
>>
>>128861073
Nü Metal at least got me into some great metal bands
>>
>>128861073
Metal nerds will say that emo isn't metal, and that numetal isn't metal.

They're not completely wrong, since whatever br00tal and kvlt wall of noise or 1970s grandpa boomer rock they listen to certainly doesn't sound like a 19 year old screaming about his ex-girlfriend in 2003 or whatever funk-rap-rock slappy bass nonsense with usually a DJ in the band or overly produced studio electronics that was nu-metal.

But at the same time, no. It's all "metal". Metal is like 15 different subgenres.
It's not techno dance music or reggaeton or jazz. It's metal.
>>
>>128861073
neither, metal is fine

Djent and Sleep Token and its not even close.
>>
>>128861794
thats like calling ac/dc or nazareth metal
>>
>>128861945
yeah, people do call them metal.
other call it hard rock
some call it precursor to metal
It's not like calling it metal is completely off base and it's a completely separate and unrelated music genre
>>
>>128861073
Whatever Djent is, it's not even heavy and has influenced the absolute worst kind of bands.
>>
>>128861099
We did it, Patrick!
>>
>>128861945
If glam metal shit like Mötley Crüe is metal then so is other arena rock like AC/DC
>>
What do you mean by emo? Actual emo as in midwest emo? Mall pop punk like MCR? Metalcore/Screamo? Well it doesn't matter since none of that shit is metal. Well metalcore is at least metal influenced.
>>
>>128861298
I only agree in theory. Yeah every retard npc cattle nigger think anything with distorted guitars and loud drums is metal
>>
>>128861794
Gr8 B8 M8. You are either trying to farm (You) or you are some broccoli head zoomie. Either way fuck you
>>
>>128863128
I don’t remember Emo ever trying to classify itself as metal

I don’t like where this discussion is going
>>
>>128861073
nu-metal by far lmao
>>
>>128861794
Emo doesn't have a direct inspirational lineage to black sabbath or a >50% focus on the instrumental and therefore isn't metal. it's not metal nerds fault that normies fundamentally misunderstand why metal is metal
>>
>>128863128
MCR is rock, FOB/Panic! Is pop punk big difference there.
