I don't like the sound artifacts of vinyl. And I don't like the fact that as far as physical media goes, it's not very durable. Shit gets deformed and warped with time, and is in general pretty delicate. It's especially sensitive to temperature, since it's basically wax. You can order it online, and when it's delivered to your doorstep, it's already deformed. It's expensive too. Fuck that.

to be more precise, Swifties saved vinyl and k-pop fans saved CD

I've been listening to bootleg vaporwave cassettes. It's not perfect but I wanted to be able to listen to music on the go while still using my phone less.

We need more zoomers like this for Spotify to finally die

vinyl is a meme

All fair reasons why I refused to buy any vinyl for 30 years. Now I'm old with disposable income and I can stomach the cost and I find that I appreciate the ritual of putting an album on to play, have a couple framed favorites on the wall, and in a world of information overload I like that having a small collection (~30 albums) keeps things focused compared to my digital collection (~1300 albums). I treat it the same way I do movies and books now: I use digital versions to explore new content, and then I keep only a select few of my favorites in physical form.

For me? It's the discount bin that features extremely foreign records, non-musical material like radio plays or even educational albums meant to teach a language, and regional artists.

Second hand stores as well.

*Laughs in cassette tape*
I've got records from the 1930s that will outlive all of our modern electronics.
