I listened to Braid, solid album but they are still "rock and roll"coded like the other 90s emo bands. They don't do the jangly clean vocal noodling. There's like a 2 year gap between 2000 and 2002 (when The Summer we went west formed) that started the whole thing and I can never find the missing link. There's also the mystery of who came up with DAEAC#E that I can't find anywhere. My current guess is someone who went on to play in Snowing, Algernon or Castevet was trying to cover Name by GooGoo Dolls and got really annoyed with DAEAEE, cuz of the B string snapping and just toned it down to C#.
