Psychedelic, to my ears, is mostly just the adding of weird Indian/eastern harmonies onto Western pop/rock.
There was some prior to PIB, like the Kinks' "See My Friends" and of course Beatles' "Norwegian Wood", but none was near as fully formed as PIB.
Also, Butterfield Blues Band should be mentioned for deeply exploring the East/West mix at same time as PIB on the East/West album, but they weren't hit machines like the Stones.
This analytical discovery of mine (that the Stones started psychedelic/modern rock with PIB) leads me to ponder flipping the best ever label from Beatles (who I used to always put there) to Stones.

damn homie made a whole thread to flaunt that he doesn’t know ehat psychedelia is. this board is the all-star ignorant retards who just make shit up, i.e. spergzooms who don’t read
>>
I hate hippies. Stones were best as a regular rock band
>>

This was the Stones trying to be mod.

if you don't like Paint it Black, you a fag. And it definitely ain't regular rock.

Eight Miles High mogs this

good pick.
I forgot that and it does have some legit claims to first psychedelic hit.
I still don't think it's as weird (for the times) as Paint It Black tho.

I disagree with your thoughts on psychedelia (unless the Indians invented studio effects in which case, fuck). Paint It Black is a wonderful song though.

You might get some enjoyment out of Chris and Craig's Isha. Or The William Penn Fyve's Swami.

This one is insane, released a month after Eight Miles High and a month before Paint It Black
>>
At what point did they remove the comma from "Paint It, Black"?
>>
>>128879704
people used to use comma's way more frequently in the past. good catch tho.
can't even think of why they'd think a comma was appropriate there to be 'awnest'.
>>
Some based anon just discovered Rolling Stones and he really wants to discuss them on /mu/ so he makes thread after thread about them
I actually think that's based and I hope anon gets lots of good replies

It's actually multiple sleeper stonesfags that have been awakened by a random zoomer who got into them last month
source: am one of them

>"Don't ask me what the comma is in the title, that's Decca. I suppose they could have put 'black' in brackets."
-Keith Richards, 1966

Decca thought it was a song about a Tom Sawyer kind of scenario where you trick a black guy into painting your fence
