The Stones are the greatest rock band of all time, but music nerds tend to praise different, often more superficial, aspects of music than the Stone’s excelled at (ex. “Penny Lane is a masterpiece because it has so many chords!”, “Bohemian Rhapsody is the greatest song because it’s 3 songs put together”). Such people miss things like the incredible buildup at the end of Paint It Black, or the ever-building layers of Let It Loose, or the masterful construction of Midnight Rambler. Aspects of music that are subtler and more difficult to describe in a shitty video essay are missed by the pseudo-intellectual music nerds of today.

the aerosmith of the 60s, but more limited
>>
>>128879274
>t. hasn't actually listened to the stones 60s songs
>>
the stones have produced a lot of great tunes but also quite a lot of pure shit. to me they seem like a tryhard band, they were the original industry plant and felt under pressure to be prolific while bands like led zep mogged them with absolute ease

learn what words mean before you use them

I bet that sounded clever in your head you cocksucking retard

>“Penny Lane is a masterpiece because it has so many chords!”
Said no one ever

The stones are excellent , the second most famous , rich and succesful band of all time. Literally everyone in the world knows who they are , every single individual from any age ( 14 to 80) knows who Mick Jagger is. You can take a 80 lady in the rural zone of China , she most likely knows who Mick is. So yeah , it's not even a debate.

Whatever. I love the Rolling Stones but I don't even know who you're arguing with. I bet you smell like shit and BO.
>>

The Stones wrote Rocks Off which goes right into Rip This Joint and later in the same album there's Happy and Tumbling Dice. As far as I'm concerned Exile on Main Street is the greatest rock album of all time which makes The Stones the greatest rock band of all time
>>
glorified watered down blues singles band

nothing in this post was accurate

>>128879666
not even the best british blues rock double album of the 70s
>>

and what is?
>>
Aftermath is their only good album. Aside from that theyre more of a singles band for their whole career. Mick and Keith write some good stuff when they can, mick was a great frontman. Brian Jones and Mick Taylor are great lead guitarists, and I like the drumming on their 60s stuff a lot. If you ask me theyre mostly another band overrated because they were around in the 60s. Led Zeppelin, and Aerosmith took inspiration and surpassed the stones
>>128879274
I agree but that's not all of a bad thing
>>
>>128878910
I used to be a 'Beatles are greatest' guy too.
But let's do 66-70, usually regarded as Beatles best period by Beatlesfags.
> Paint It Black
> Jumpin Jack Flash
> Gimme Shelter
Name any Beatles song from 66-70 than can compete with those?

>Name any Beatles song from 66-70 than can compete with those?
only Tomorrow Never Knows and Norwegian Wood come close, but they don't capture the sheer vitality that the Stones songs have which gives them the edge IMO

its all a self serving jack off to try and quantify that which is wholly subjective. There is no "greatest" or "best" - just music that you like to one degree or the other or dont like.

I like the Stones

Lolololol @ the blatant samefagging
I love The Rolling Stones but you're delusional and need to behave yourself sensibly, for your own sake.

STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER
is just the first off the top of my head.

PS Mick agrees.
>>
jumping jack flash mogs everything the Beatles did desu, that's all there is to it

and then it had child of the moon as a bside, which mogs any Beatles bside

and they weren't even at their best in the 60s because they peaked with Exile on Main St

brian jones did fuck all

He played the guitar better than keef
>>
>>128883089
keith richards played all the leads when brian jones was in the band
I'll be the first to claim lead guitar isn't everything but brian jones also didn't do anything in the way of rhythm

Brian Jones fucking sucked and is remembered not for his shitty playing, but for being the leader of the band during that early period

The stones are too soft for rock n roll, there was nothing dangerous about them. Even the supposed drug years of Keith were nothing. Overhyped.
