>>128879446Current 93 - The Inmost LightUlver - Shadows of the SunAnna von Hausswolff - Dead Magic Christoph de Babalon - If You're Into It, I'm Out of It (just the ambient tracks, though it is all good)Boards of Canada - GeogaddiBurzum - Thulêan Mysteries (Varg has cited Dead Can Dance as one of his influences for the Dark Ambient (now referred to as Dungeon Synth) tracks on all his albums, and though his post- prison synth albums aren't often favoured by most fans, and for that matter the synth tracks outside of his Black Metal offerings (I would agree that the most compelling synth tracks he has ever composed are on Hvis Lysett Tar Oss, Det Som Engang Var, and Filosofem, but you are I assume looking for recommendations that aren't necessarily Black Metal, though I digress). I think Thulean Mysteries has a lot to offer, I'd also recommend The Ways of Yore for a shorter and more focused incarnation of this sound.
>>128880876*I forgot to mention Ildjarn's Landscapes, pure beautiful dark ambient from a Black Metal/Dark Ambient project that aside from Landscapes and one collaborative album 'Hardangervidda' made some of the most hypnotic, ugly, raw BM around. His synth work on Landscapes contrasts very starkly with his other material in how beautiful it is, though it still has a real darkness to it.
