But now that we're this far removed from the entire Shoegaze scene, and can recognize it was really just a blip on the radar for all reasonably accessible alternative music... Slowdive (and Ride) are honestly pretty boring. What mbv does is far more unique than just reverby indie pop.mbv absolutely clears them, just by having a bit of a rawer, more original sound.

Lush. But between those two, I'll take Loveless over any Slowdive album. Slowdive is perhaps the most consistently "pretty good" band that I've ever heard.
