Why is it that nowadays the only time 40s/50s/pre-rock n roll era pop becomes relevant is during Christmas? Even 50s rock n roll does, I heard Run Run Rudolph way more times in my life than Johnny B Goode.

not that guy but i heard someone say on Steve Hoffman Forum that generally pre-Beatles singers that have stayed in the collective consciousness are the ones that had a Christmas hit

Not 50s autist either but maybe these Christmas songs have a longer shelf life because they are only dragged out once a year. Brenda Lee, Andy Williams, Jose Feliciano, Bobby Helms, Burl Ives, Gene Autry, Perry Como, Johnny Mathis, The Vince Guaraldi Trio are all way past due but frozen in time ho ho ho

If it weren't for the Rudolph special, Burl Ives would just been a forgotten folk singer

Similar with Guaraldi and the Peanuts specials but jazz piano. It has to be the once a year thing, otherwise these things would have faded away. Those entire forms of animation are gone even but those specials still air.

Why is it so hard to get a current Christmas hit
