Why are they so forgotten today? They were incredibly popular, respected, and acclaimed in their time, but no one cares about them now.

They were a very inconsistent band even at their time. They were a single band, not an album band, which in the sixties were what they would need to get bigger.

>They were a single band, not an album band
so were the rolling stones
>>
I must be the only person who regularly listened to their 2003 album

Not really, the stones are obviously famous for their singles but their albums are actually pretty good for 60s standards

Based Yardbirds poster. They were fantastic. Annoying how the band is overshadowed by just being seen as a launching pad for Led Zeppelin and Clapton and Beck.

Having a Rave-Up and Roger the Engineer are both very solid albums, but after that they couldn't hold things together
>>
Because Aerosmith's cover of "Think About It" blows away the original.

I'm a big fan, but I think Keith Relf's lack of charisma and vocal prowess may have held them back

>Rave-Up
>very solid
not really, it has the same song 2 times
Also the yardbirds recorded "Heart Full Of Soul" with a sitar in mid 65, which beats the beatles by a few months.
The beatles got all the glory cause the yardbirds never released it

Cultural rot

I don’t think they were ever intended to be a consistent band. The lineup was constantly changing and the group was really just a vehicle for English blues guitarists to launch solo careers or spinoff groups. Same as John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers.

Nobody listens to their songs. Name their top 10.

Everyone just knows them as the band where better bands came from.

Shape of Things is a better song than any of Zeppelin's from the first two albums.

i agree Zeppelin started lame but then it got good af as you notice besides the Yard Bird's record(s) sound quality is ass.

You can say "singles band" disparagingly all you want, but their run of singles is one of the most revolutionary of any era of rock.
>>
led zeppelin sucks ass btw
>>
>>128921433
my dad still likes them

>Evil Hearted Jew

What did they mean by this?
