>grunge killed hair metal
1992 vince neil had a hit song on a blockbuster movie encino man
>>
>>128926596
>thinking soundtracks matter when its a movie not featuring the artist in a major role
Hi-C and Sacred Reich also had songs on that soundtrack. Tell me what the name of each of their songs on there were without looking it up.

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Grunge was a sub genre of hair metal.
>>
I'd say that's more Encino Man being so over with everyone that it made Vince Neil draw some dimes in return

In 1992 Def Leppard's Adrenalize came out and sold seven million copies. Which is mind blowing because it's a huge piece of shit.

The whole "grunge killed hair metal' thing isn't a myth, but it took a good couple of years for grunge to fully take hold of the culture and kill off hair metal for good.

People moved on and found new shit. But to say it killed it is just repeating buzzwords. So many hairmetal is still being made
>>
grunge did one good thing
>>
>>128928008
and hard rock hits by Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and Guns n Roses were regularly topping the charts throughout the 90s

Garth Brooks engaged in all kinds of shenanigans like a proto-Swift to artificially boost his sales/chart numbers. Dude was crooked as fuck.
>>

He's not dead.

Im pretty sure it was Korn that killed it. During the height of grunge you still had slaughter and def leppard playing the music awards alongside grunge when nu metal exploded there were no hair bands anymore
>>
>>128930342
that's a good point
and that guy from The Darkness even said there was a feud between nu metal and hard rock when they got popular

Vince Neil's band was great live (saw him open for Van Halen in 1993) but if you're honest, then acknowledge that
- Vince Neil is a terrible, terrible singer live
- Steve Stevens was the reason Exposed was such a good album, and why they were good live.
>>
>>128931161
I wouldn't say Vince is a good singer in the studio either for that matter.

Aerosmith were never hair metal, and GnR had already signaled the end for poodle bands with AFD. So of course they survived.

Firehouse were still pretty big, im pretty sure in full house DJ was about to sneak out to see firehouse but Danny tanner said no and uncle Jesse wanted her to listen to Elvis because those concerts were dangerous

Grunge killed hair metal like mid 2000's "emo" killed nu-metal. Korn, Deftones and shit like that was still technically selling in 2007 and 2008, but it wasn't anywhere near the pop-cultural force it was in 2000 and 2001.
