They're both 3/32 on the bass and 1/16 treble side when fretted on the last fret. Due to the neck angle, probably.

a good bridge should give you louder harmonics

Is it normal as a beginner to still struggle on songs you've been playing for months? Been kinda on/off at least.
>>
>>128933162
It’s essentially Ron Thorn’s take on the Fender Custom Shop RSD bridge, I like that it’s like a LP special tailpiece bridge. My wife got it for me for Christmas, I was happy with a Mustang bridge but I’m not gonna just not use my Christmas present
>>128933199
Nah that’s gay
>>
>>128933233
this question needs more context but it’s normal to have days where you suck. if you only play along to the backing track or the song it is very easy not hear mistakes and just mime along to the timing. if you can’t play the part alone to a metronome you didn’t really learn it
>>
>>128933233
its not normal
>>
>>128933218
Why bother, all Mustang/Duo Sonic pickups are are slightly weaker Strat pickups with flat pole pieces and plastic covers. You can get close enough with regular Strat pickups by just lowering them super low
>>

cool study that shows people only care about groove when the bass is playing it. EEG shows increased brain function when complex rhythms are present in bass frequencies versus other registers

>>
>>128933337
I generally only play along to the song or count along in my head when I'm just warming up.

Also is it normal to be a bit better when playing along to the metronome than when you're playing to the song?

>>128933339
So I just suck then?
>>
>>128933505
it’s not really normal but it might be if you do substantially more metronome practice than live practice.

I've realized recently that the more balanced the base scale is, the stronger the "flavor" of its modes. like the diatonic scale is the most balanced so all the modal flavors are very distinctive (take for example Ionian vs locrian). if you go to a scale like harmonic minor or melodic minor, that is inherently unbalanced, most of those modes end up sounding very similar. for example, Phrygian dominant, Locrian natural 6 and Dorian augmented 4th all sound pretty similar, far more so then their diatonic counterparts.

Just got back from a local gig. The opening band was dull and had a not so cool disposition. 2nd band thought they knew they weren't as good as they thought, but they had no idea. Dreadful, to make myself clear. The guitarist had all the expected pedals. The bass player was really active melodicaly but thankfuly I was only hearing the amp at stage volume, as i was in the front portion of the audience, viewing the band, and the sound guy almost completley ducked the level going to the P/A. The keyboard player looked like a total nerd and he couldn't play at all. He was the best part of the band. The singer was not able to be there, so he was the second best member. The main band, which I hapen to play guitar in, had a great performance according to most reviews.

Also, acoustics are pretty flat. Classical is completely flat, but a lot of steel strings at still like a 16" radius. Something you only see on shredder electrics.

I like the JM more than a Strat, especially if it has a rhythm circuit and or P90s. How often are you going back and forth between gauges? All my short scales are either 11s or 12s, this one is 11s and I’m perfectly happy sticking with 11s on it. Worse case scenario if for whatever reason I want to do something different I’ll just stick one of my other two bridges on and set it up real quick, it isn’t the end of the world. He entered the Burger King not as a customer, but as a man asserting the sovereignty of appetite. He ordered without hesitation. Three Whoppers. No sides. No explanation. The cashier nodded, recognizing in him the quiet certainty of someone who did not ask permission to exist.
He ate standing up. Efficiency mattered.
From there, he drove to Guitar Center, not because he sought approval, but because the instruments awaited judgment. The automatic doors parted as if compelled by the force of his intent. Rows of guitars lay before him some honest, some compromised, many pretending to be what they were not.
He carried his Epiphone SG like a declaration. He did not call it Gibson out of confusion, but out of refusal. Names, like limits, only mattered if you accepted them.
He plugged in.
The sound that followed was not clean, nor was it correct but it was his. Reverb bloomed outward, unchecked, unconcerned with consensus. A salesman approached, then stopped. There was nothing to say to a man who had already decided.
He played not for the room, but against it. Each chord was a rejection of moderation, a denial of compromise. Somewhere behind him, discomfort stirred biological, inconvenient, irrelevant. He ignored it. The self came first.
When he finally unplugged and turned toward the exit, no one stopped him. They understood, dimly, that greatness does not apologize.
Outside, he stood alone in the parking lot, sun heavy on his shoulders. He had played. He had eaten. He had endured.
And that, he knew, was enough.

never liked how fuzz is most often used as "even more annoying than distortion". There's better uses for it.

I prefer fuzz or natural tube breakup. distortion is too smooth and just makes the instrument sound like it has grease on it. I want the growl

Bros... last night went to a punk rock gig by myself. I'm a hog farmer who plays bass at county fair type events, and don't go to the city that often. I was wearing Carhart winter pants, a black long sleeve thermal, a scarf by Armani (blue and green hounds tooth patern with embroidered hyacinth flowers), a cream coloured felt cowboy hat with a blood stained feather; from a swan I dispatched with my bare hands when one of the show hogs stomped its nest, it being stuck in the leather band circling my hat. Red leather cowboy boots, and wearing a loose fitting light blue handmade pancho, given to me by the grandmother of an Argentinian woman I empregnated during the Faulklands. Anyways, I get to the gig, and the guy at the door calls me a fairy. Go in and the band insults me. Some guy in a vest steals my hat and everybody laughs. At this point I'm crying, and its an ugly cry. One of the empathetic punks tries to comfort me, falling for the trap. I hog tie them with my conceild lasoo and farmers carry them into the parking lot. Happens to be a female punk into bdsm. We go back to my place, which is a 5 hour drive into the country. By the time we get to the farm the sun is coming up and the qualudes wore off hours ago. "I can sense her fear. She isn't so punk rock now", I accidentally say out loud, making the completely safe situation seem ominous and foreboding. She enjoys a plate of boiled ham, and rests, while I tend to the hogs. Than, we consumate our primal lust, copulating for hours. Spilling seed. Big city nights ain't what they used to be.

I can’t stand the sound of pushed notes on a guitar. Just because they’re easy to do doesn’t mean you should do it

how do you learn your sweep picking? i can do 3 strings at most, 4 if the shape is like 2324xx. i feel like your guitar string must stay close to the fretboard (idk the actual term where the string has some space between that and the fretboard so fingering it takes more effort)
>>
>>128940057
you mean a bend?
>>
fender needs to make more 30" scale 6 string models

Hopefully i actually feel good enough to practice this stuff today

When you're picking do you ever rest your pinky on the strings or do you not have your right hand on the string?
>>
>>128940283
i mean that's the most comfy position, you get to lay down your hand somewhere
>>
>>128940283
Right hand fingers should be curled into a fist
>>
>>128939906
They're not easy to do, you're supposed to hit a specific pitch a multiple of semitones up from where you're bending. Otherwise you end up in between notes and get a sour bend
>>
>>128940113
It's called low action
