Why cant they produce any popular music?
ram stine
>>128944074Rammstein literally exists, you know. They also made Boney M. which is famous for songs like Rasputin and Daddy Cool. And the funny Moscow Power Ranger guys from YTMND
Wasn't Kraftwerk's Model played in the radios worldwide for decades? I feel like I've known the tune my whole life, way before I concoiusly found out the name of the track and the band.
>>128944074their language sucks

>the only song in german language to hit #1 was made by an austrian
Late 20th century it seems like there was so much Anglo influence in their music, especially because of the split between West/East Germany diluting the general homegrown culture especially in the case of West Germany just aping Anglo contemporaries. I've been to Germany a bunch of times and every jukebox seems to play mostly British/American stuff along with a few German acts, and their own music couldn't compete over time. NDW and Krautrock were either too niche or never got international appeal despite their huge influence and even with Kraftwerk basically influencing the entirety of electronic music even to this day, akin to Black Sabbath with metal, it wasn't enough to be more appealing outside of Germany than the music they eventually influenced.
>>128945043Also just to add, they have their own thing with "Schlager" which probably sounds terrible to anyone who isn't a German boomer.

>>128944895>>128945043>>128945112Kraftwerk is uncslop, theres way, way better electronic artists from germanyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZvt23iBVVo
>>128945120Digitalism is "uncslop" at this point brother. Germany has loads of incredible electronic music from recent years, Skee Mask, Stenny, Traumprinz, Vril, Helena Hauff, Monolake, Alva Noto, Basic Channel etc.
>>128945120monolake, basic channel and alva noto are all older than digitalism though.
>>128945363Yeah but they are still relevant today whereas Digitalism are in the dustbin of history at this point. Mark Ernestus' latest album was near the top of lots of people's favourite albums of the year for 2025, Robert Henke is too busy with Ableton but Monolake's album from last year was pretty good, Alva Noto, you may have me there but I still enjoy his stuff.
>>128945423>Monolake, Mark Ernestus, Alva Noto>relevantthese mfs barely reach +20k monthly listeners on spotify, digitalism is still rocking 600k at leasttheir latest remix was fun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAIAFyAUvgY
>>128945648Do you really think people who are actually into electronic music care about Spotify? There's been a huge wave of people in the scene (like the aforementioned Ilian Tape artists) removing their music from Spotify due to the boycott.Meanwhile, Mark Ernestus, 3rd best album of 2025 from Boomkat, Monolake, 2nd best album of 2024 from Bleep.com never mind other lauded reception from actual electronic music fans.Open your mind brother.
>>128945714>removing their music from Spotify due to the boycott.so theyre woke, wont listen to them
>>128945730Big fan of Israel then? Dance music is the wokest genre in the world man, come on.
