My dad grew up in Surrey in the 80s. He was neighbors with Phil Collins. He had lots of stories about Phil. He seems like a really cool guy.

One thing that always shocked me was apparently how popular Phil Collins was with black women. My dad would joke that his entire career was just an elaborate ploy to fuck as many black women as possible.

He said almost daily, he would see Phil with a new one. Sometimes multiple. There were only a few that were regular visitors, but the vast majority would come by once or twice.

He didnt realize what was going on at the time. My grandpa would lie and just say he was having band practice. But as he got older he recontextualized the sounds he would hear from Phil's house. Those girls werent singing, they were getting blown out.

My grandpa would jokingly refer to him as "Fill".

Either way, whats your favorite Phil Collins song? For me, it's Behind The Lines

Hating Phil Collins is very low IQ. It's like hating The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, or Infectious Jelqing. If you don't like Fill Call-ins you dont like music

Wasn't Lemmy also an unabashed oil driller?

Lemmy banged more black chicks than every member (past/present) of Parliament Funkadelic combined. Not as much as Fill Call-ins though

His early work was too artsy, too intellectual. But when Hello I must be going came out, I started to like him.

No Jacket Required [Atlantic, 1984]
For an art rocker turned international pop star of the month, Phil Collins is not nearly as hateable as he might be. In fact he's not hateable at all between his self-deprecating music videos and good taste in business associates (better Philip Bailey than, say, Steve Perry). But it's going to take more than just a stupid love song to win me over. Then factor in the utterly unsurprising lyrics and arrangements and you find yourself wondering why this is considered a mein of Britpop voices. Because nobody ever wondered what it sounded like unfiltered? C
