Do you like music so much it’s difficult to talk about with people? It’s impossible for me to ever have a conversation about music with anybody, I’m sick of it as a topic.

i've told people that I don't listen to music when they've asked about or complimented merch before
yes I am autistic

vipers more legendary than all the legends combined, that is the conversation.
>>
yeah, kind of. I hate looking like a pseud or tryhard irl so if I ever have The Conversation with someone I mention stuff I like that I think they’ll like too or at least have heard of
its a little frustrating to have to hide my power level so I make up for it by being insufferably supercilious and annoying on /mu/
>>
realised most people just dont care that much. but as long as you read the other persons level of interest i dont have issues talking to people. being open minded yourself and humble helps
>>
surface level conversations are easy. With normalfags you just let them yap most of the time, make the obvious references and connections to keep the conversation going. And only rec if they explicitly ask.

I used to shit on most of friends taste like a dickhead. I stopped doing that because that's just well, being a dickhead.
but I still think it in my head when they talk about something entry level.
I can't be bothered trying to get my friends into more stuff I've accepted it and that's fine

The problem is that no one really seems that interested, even when they explicitly stay they enjoy music. It makes family gatherings difficult because they like to bring up the topic of music, but most of them only seem interested in boomer music and what ever else is popular. I've basically pigeon-holed myself into being that pretentious tryhard who knows a lot of indie music.

The best thing to do is not reveal your power level too much so you can avoid awkward situations and potentially ruin the music for yourself. Save it for people who you know are interested in the same music as you and who want to explore deeper. Sadly, these people are rare.

I am purposely obnoxious about music so that I chase off normalfags with shart taste. Doing anything else to kiss ass to your peers is normalfaggotry.

Naw i listen to a wide range of genres. Ill say most of the music i really enjoy i couldnt discuss with 95% of normans, but ive got something for everybody. Unless theyre a total empty vessel, like the kinds that only listen to radio top 40 billboard hit artists. Those people there is no saving, you can play something that sounds exactly like what they love but if that artist isnt internet hollywood famous with +300k social media followers then its not even music to them
>>
IT IS DIFFICULT TO TALK WITH OTHER PERSONS, BECAUSE MOST PERSONS ARE DUMB AND IGNORANT; MOST PEOPLE ARE NOT EVEN PERSONS.

IF YOU ARE NOT MISANTHROPIC, YOU ARE DELUDED.

How is that possible to be that much of a normie? my god...
>>
Sounds like a you problem. I have a blast talking to boomers all the time about music. One time I complimented this old dudes Rainbow shirt and he we chatted a good 10 minutes about them. Next time I see him, he gives me a live DVD of a show, lol.

Someone pointed out said how cool my Saint's shirt at an op shop was and I froze like the sperg I am and fumbled my words, he was a cool guy though
>>
>>128972061
boomers arent normies
they come from an era when popular music included many artists with genuine songwriting ability and instrumental skills, and those things were actively noticed and appreciated. normies are spotify prisoners who listen to commercial pop churned out by teams of anonymous producers with a reamed out, autotuned fuck puppet propped up to be the marketable face of the product

It is insane how many "people" like "musicians" simply for their image. I know like 5 coworkers in their early 20s to early 30s who like Sabrina Carpenter. I have asked all of them what they like about her because she sounds like the blandest cookie cutter pop act imaginable, and the first thing they all say is some version of "slay queen." They like her because she is an unashamed slut. Three of them are women I don't respect, one is a faggot I don't respect, and one is a woman I respect.

I have now gotten to the point where as long as someone likes the actual music of any artist, I'm happy.
>>
>>128972122
You're kinda right. Outside of music nerds, even old KISS fanatics will have a far more engaging music conversation over a typical current pop star fan like Taylor or whoever.
>>
>>128964663
Nice take.

All you need is one person (just one) who shares your taste (not 100%) and passion. I met a nerdy music-loving friend nine years ago, and we only talk about music, which is kind of funny. She has shown me many things, and I have shown her many things. It makes us want to discover more, and sometimes we go to concerts together even though we live far apart. It's the kind of friendship that broadens our horizons because we know there are people who are as fanatical as we are, and we even feel more normal.

>>128972600
>she
>her
have you touched her boobies
>>
what do you even talk about?
>hey i like band
>what no way i also like band
>i liked their first album but thought their second one sucked
>no way their seconds the best
riveting stuff
>>
>>128973117
so what the fuck are you doing here
>>
>>128972122
And they come from the era when a big home stereo was a status symbol. You're unlikely to appreciate music as something beyond background noise if you listen on phone speakers.
>>
>>128973117
Have you ever had, like, friends? Are you aware that most people can yap for hours with others who share the same interests?
jesus
>>
>>128961495
Kind of. I have the best luck talking about it with boomers. Even they don't really have internet autist knowledge but they at least know the artists I'm talking about and are familiar with the music, sometimes they tell me stuff I don't know because they were there and remember which is cool.
>>
>>128973117
I don't even bring up albums because that's enough to filter 95% of people
