>millions of plays on spotify and youtube music
>all from lying about their albums being 20 years older then it actually is
Is this the most successful scam in music ever? I remember them getting exposed 5 or so years ago but I got recommended them on YouTube music just now. By far the worst thing to come out of /mu/
>>

This should be the new norm, annoying boomer cunts will shit on anything new, it's funny as fuck to trick those viagra guzzling uncs
>>
Don't know who that is, death metal is for closet homos

>all from lying about their albums being 20 years older then it actually is
wtf are you talking about, schizo? It sounds exactly like how countless Radiohead indie wannabes of the early 2000s sounded, it's not like the album is Phonk or Mumble Rap or something modern.
>>
The enlightened take is that the music is really that old but that the original 4chan post (and the "disc rot") was a publicity stunt
>>
>>128975687
>disc rot is not real
lmao real schizo hours.
>>
>>128975660
Kys newfag. They are shit but apart of /mu/‘s history so you should know them. https://youtu.be/xlX7NwTq9Zo?si=5oV2BSD-LE6qCSDz

Disc rot is real but it was faked on the Panchiko CD to add to the mystery
>>
>>128975663
Its mid as fuck one trick pony alternative rock that was so plain and boring they had to make up a story that it was le lost hidden gem that someone discovered in a second hand store to create any hype for this completely unremarkable record. The thing that really gives it away was the album art and the 2010s aesthetics on a supposedly late 90s album. Its strange that the band would have such keen forward thinking sensibilities for album art aesthetics when their sound is so blatantly indebted to radioheads sound
>>
>>128975567

>>
>>128975715
>>128975796
Disc rot is barely real and only exists in the form of decades old cheaply pressed CDs and CDs that were horrifically damaged due to flood or heat and I have never once seen a CD that had any kind of significant rot in over 25 years collecting CDs and that includes hundreds of CDs ive owned from the 90s and 80s. Panchiko are totally full of shit
>>
>>128975567
they remember watching a french dub as kids which didn't even exist, lol. hoax
>>
This sound straight out of 2012-2018 how did people ever think this came out in 2000?
>>
>>128975976
it sounds pretty much like 90s radiohead and other radiohead clones like BOA. The quality and production however are suspiciously good
>>
>>128975567
Why does this board get so frothing-at-the-mouth enraged about this album? Get the fuck over it and get laid.

"PANCHIKO" FUN FACTS:
>The font on the album's cover wasn't commercially available until 2003
>When asked to scan the cover's dot matrix to prove the time of printing, the original anon abruptly disappeared
>The model of jewel case did not exist in 2000. "The original owner must have switched it out!" LOL
>The first drummer admitted that he "didn't originally remember being part of a band called Panchiko". He "amicably left the band" right after that interview was published.
>Analysis of the "bit rot" showed looping sonic patterns that would not occur due to natural deterioration
>Keyboard sounds on the album match Casio presets from 2005
>Seven months before "Panchiko" a group of Discord infiltrators tried to push an eerily similar sounding band called "Anime" whose CD was "found in a midlands charity shop." It was foiled when their Discord messages leaked.

Hey Zoomer, you do realize one of the biggest hits of 2001 was a song with anime aesthetics? Oh wait you don't because you were born after the iPhone was released.
>>
>>128975567
What is the issue exactly? OP realized he didn't cash in when panchiko were nobodies and old /moo/tants brought them into the limelight and now OP is seething?
>>

+ They claim that they have seen a french dub of Laputa which hadn't even existed.
>>
I think the obvious shills ITT are the final proof that this album's marketing campaign was a collaborative effort between some /mu/ jannies, some paid shills on RYM and probably some shady major label activity going on in the side. Yes, the music is completely irremarkable. A similar hype machine has been built right now for Geese / Cameron Winter, but with the "le forgotten gem" discourse changed for "le genius of le generation". Try to give some bad comments on Geese on RYM and see what happens.
>>
>>128976676
Anime is cringe. It's the equivalent of putting a dead body on your album cover. It turns most people away and attracts the worst kind of weirdos.
>>
>>128975634
Aren't most listeners zoomers who bought into the nostalgia to escape their modern zoloft life?

This is such a retarded point to make but makes sense you zoomers stick with it because you broccoli head fucks got a memory that only goes far back 10-12 years ago, you guys can't grasp how unreliable is trying to remember vague things you saw 30 years ago, let alone 40.

I have several CDs from the 80s with disc rot. It doesn't affect the sound because CDs have good error correction. Some of your 80s CDs probably have it too and you haven't noticed. Hold them up with a light behind them and look for pin holes in the metal.
>>
i just realized last week that it's panchiko and not pachinko
>>
>>128981136
>Owain admitted he was wrong about it being French

>>
>>128975909
Bruh.... there's a huuuuuuge difference between the quality of professionally pressed CDs from the 80s and 90s vs cheap, nearly disposable CD-Rs from the late 1990s-Early 2000s, which is what they used. And even then only the original anon's copy was rotted out, the other copies found are probably in better shape but we won't know because the collectors that got them are silent hoarders.
>>
>>128975567
Stop worrying about the views. Worry about making your music sound the way it sounds in your head. Accomplish that first.

To be fair, Zoomers grew in a post 9/11 word where conspiratard schizophrenia was not just normalized but seen as "enlightened", they've been groomed from birth to distrust even their own shadow.

I always thought this was a bizarre claim. I've had plenty of CDs with disc rot over the years, and it sounds nothing like that. This is obviously something that was added in post. It's like when you see television static in a video game and it's just a static image scrolling in some direction or switching between two static images.
>>
>>128986151
>viral marketing
>something interesting
Why are you such a gullible footsolider for blatant marketing campaigns that promote underwhelming and forgettable style over substance landfill indie? Maybe I'd be a little forgiving if they were any good but they arent and this forced meme is stale
>>
>>128988647
Not everything is a conspiracy to get you, zoomer. You're not the center of the universe.
>>
>>128988220
Yet there are dozens of examples of it sounding exactly like that. Like this video from 2013: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k29pyzJIixk&start=205
>>
>>128989905
Lies! that video must have been planted by PANCHIKO years in advance to make the psyop to be more credible.

Those go back even further. Read up on Memphis hip-hop, Rajesh.

So like 20+ year old cdr that had its label heat pressed and was probably stored in a car for years before ending up in a resale store?
>>
>>128976010
Pro tools existed back then too, and every English town had at least 10 professional recording studios back then. One of them went off to start a new band and became a pretty successful engineer/producer in the 2000s, so he probably had some mixing skills back then too.
>>
>>128976010
>The quality and production however are suspiciously good
Dipshit, it was recorded in 2000 not 1950. Even in the 1980s indie bands could record really well produced material for cheap.
>>
>>128975567
>is quirky meme band that only internet dorks care about the most successful scam in music?
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no
