What happened to him?
>>128985096He’s just on cruise control. All his new music from the last year sounds the same (boring as ass), so he just goes around touring with various local orchestras doing versions of songs his old songs with lots of extra strings. Winning that Grammy for Morning Guilt really was the nail in the coffin for him ever doing anything interesting again. It was such a bland album, and to have it reinforced so heavily encouraged him to keep phoning it in.
He turned to Scientology
>>128987914pretty sure left scientology a while ago. he was raised in it, his parents etc
>>128985096>>128987886I've made an effort post about this before but to make it short the qualities about Beck and his music that made him appealing to Gen X and older Millennials are exactly what make him irrelevant if not repellent to zoomers and younger people as a whole. His style was born out of a very niche zeitgeist that only could have existed in the 90s and it doesn't well age that well with a few exceptions
>>128985096he just ran out of ideas. no shame in that.he accept his own fate as playing the same songs for the next 40 years
>>128987886Now you can kinda see why I don't like the Grammy's and Billboard, that whole system kills your artistry.
>>128987968The 90s aesthetic is everywhere. All the zoomers are just plebs
>>128988656Yeah but Beck's specifically just doesn't resonate with the younger generations since Beck was all about a throwback to 60s, 70s, 80s music and culture, all of which are boomer-coded
>>128985096airwaves?
>like beck>read his wikipedia page>hate himMany such cases
>>128985096I remember a celebrity deathmatch episode where it was Beck vs Björk. That's all.
>>128985096He got old and ugly everyone loses value when they get older and uglier. Its how it be.
>>128987886I liked his early stuff a bit but he's very mainstream now. No more lo fi hip hop influenced indie, folk and funk tunes. He loved to sample shit all the time but I haven't heard a peep from him in years.
>>128988669>60s, 70sYeah I agree there >80sNot at all, its still very much hyped.
>Colors came out 8 years ago>when Colors came out, Modern Guilt had come out 9 years agoI'm tired bros
