Is larping like a band from the 70s cool? Wearing a costume to make it look like you're from that era. I like the song though
>>128996108yes, verythanks for asking
>>128996108Casablanca’s dad was good friends with Epstein and ran a modeling agency
>>128996108It defo was back in the second part of the 90s, when this retro thing started. Not 100% sure why it happened, but maybe because there was something rotten in Western culture and going retro was a sign of that decadence through nostalgia. Stylistic play on past historical masks is a very meta, late-stage phase in a culture that doesn't manage to create novelty anymore. Except through regurgitating the past. Not much has changed since then, right, as we see that's zoomers' entire paradigm, reliving past authentic quirky things.
>>128996173Maybe the whole numetal thing caused the retro craze. How cringy the numetal aesthetic was
>>128996213It started way before numetal. Primal Scream was doing Stones-y songs like Jailbird and Rocks as early as 1994.Then in 1997 they put out Vanishing Point, which is clearly a retro album. That might be one of the first roots of this zeitgeist swing to the past.
>>128996213>>128996320But then.. come to think of it.. some of Nirvana's songs already had a throwback vibe to them. On A Plain and Been A Son had that jumpy upbeat 60s melodicity, but Cobain did it in a much more subtle and modernised way. He wasn't necessarily seeking to sound retro, he was just recycling that warm feeling of 60s melody into a harsh metallic instrumentation, giving it a new sound that was both raw and abrasive but also pop and relatable
yes vey coolhttps://youtu.be/eRm_cQzDkD0
