70% rubbing alcohol will get glue residue off. Goo Gone citrus glue remover works very well but you have to cut it afterwards with Windex or equivalent to remove the citrus scent. Used to work in the sign industry and this is how we did it. The citrus stuff is a bit oily so that needs to be removed after removing the glue...

Rubbing alcohol just evaporates. Both work well. Ps, rubbing alcohol strength of 99% is best for electronic cleaning or computer part cleaning. It evaporates fast and has little water content since it's 99% alcohol. However it can leave a white residue. Anyhow it's best to use this for things like thermal paste removal on CPUs using qtips.

I played a Jaguar last week and after shitting on them forever I think I get the appeal. It was a very nice guitar to play, the tremolo was the best tremolo I’ve ever played around with other than a perfectly dialed in Floyd Rose style tremolo, the pickups sounded like slightly brighter Stratocaster pickups, and it was just very comfortable. The shorter scale wasn’t noticeable like I thought it would be, I might go back and buy it. Are Vintera series Jaguars worth buying or should I get something better?

it’s all a larp perpetuated by gearfags and poorfags. there’s a reason why certain instruments are glorified in commercial music, it’s because they just sit in a mix with minimal adjustment and have a great sound. tele, silverface reverb, p bass, ampeg b15 etc. then you have the actual knowledge side of things where people want to believe learning theory or practicing will make them worse or that just adding a single note outside of a scale is going to make them the next bb king. the people that can’t are teaching, and those that can are doing.

Hello, I have been living under a rock for the past decade or so. What is a go-to program for digital tabs these days? I remember using Guitar Pro 5, but it was kinda unstable and prone to crashing. I remember trying to dabble with GP6 but I can't read sheet music and I rely less on the actual written tabs and more on the fretboard with notes and note previews - but GP6 is very ugly in that regard.
I've recently tried GP8 and it feels completely alien, in top of trying to be a bootleg daw or some shit its seems to be completely incompatible with my folder of .gp4 and .gp5 tabs. I've also given TuxGuitar a try, but it's a bit ass too.

I read online that using a fret rocker on a setup guitar makes no sense. That it only makes sense to use it on a straight neck. It doesn't make sense to me. I tested it on mine and there are no rocking frets.
I'm thinking of taking a fret rocker to the store to check the guitar before I buy it, but I don't want to embarass myself. To me, it makes sense to use one.
>>
>>128999885
it can cause false readings. I doubt the truss rod on any guitar will be where it needs to be on the shelf and I don’t think they’ll let you adjust it yourself. alternatively you can just set the action where you want it then spot correct problems as they appear. a plek is the way to go though
>>
>>128999885
>I read online that using a fret rocker on a setup guitar makes no sense
so one retard polluted your mind, disregard it.
a "set up" guitar's neck will be virtually straight anyways. .005 - .010 inches of relief IS a straight neck just erring on the side of concave, and a fret rocker will still show you if one is high

not really. a fret rocker will rock on a variance of .002”. when you have relief in the neck the point where the truss rod isn’t as bent (around the 15-17t fret) will rock guaranteed. if you take those down too far you’ll end up chasing them all the way to the end of the neck

Neck relief is a long-radius curve over ~18–25 inches, while a fret rocker checks local deviations over ~1.5–2 inches. A smooth curve cannot make three adjacent frets uneven unless the relief is extreme or uneven.

well you completely missed the point.
Your local mom and pop shop is a business that is being DESTROYED by big box retailers. They can't afford to sell strings for 4 dollars a pack. So when someone brings in a brand new guitar purchased online from the faceless competitor that has them on their knees with 75 to 100 dollars and says, "uhhh can you set this up for me?" they are gonna half ass it because you aren't a real customer. Thats colorful I like it. It sounds a bit Yngwie pilled.
>>
>>129000220
the reality is that a big box store is pushing their tech to upsell things you don’t need. A $100 setup won’t even cover fret or nut work these days, and the tech is pressured to complete these jobs in under an hour. I used to be a GC tech and long story short I cared more about the quality of my work than making the store money and was let go.

I'm fine to pay and wait extra for fret work, that's precise work and it isn’t easy. Not suprised GC higher ups can't understand that though, alot of them don't even play.
>>
>>129000220
>. If they intentionally halfass it they have themselves to blame for when I go elsewhere next time.
you went elsewhere to buy the guitar and they're not stupid, they know 100 percent you're going to buy your next guitar or amp from the big sweetwater warehouse so they don't honestly give a shit if you come back once every 3 years to pay 75 dollars for a set up on a 1200 dollar guitar you bought online
>>
>I can't turn a fucking hex key

The only real reason I use an EQ pedal for is when I’m using two different guitars with different pickups thought the same amp throughout a gig, I’ll have the amp itself dialed in for one guitar and rather than tweaking amp settings for the other I’ll have the EQ pedal dialed in for it instead.

I can dial out a harsh in-room frequency from a great amp and play louder. I can cut unneeded low end rumble to make the rest of the bass frequencies sound better on an already great amp. I regularly play in front of 50-100 people every weekend or two and have been doing so for many years now and honestly I still get terrible stage fright. You just gotta try to ignore it and just not think about being watched.

That, feeler gauges and one of those radius checking tools. I only regret getting a radius gauge in this style. Checking the strings seems more difficult than one of those that slide under the strings and which you then lift up.

I'm thinking about getting nut files next, so I can file down my own nuts. The GraphTech ones I bought and which fit my guitar had weird string slots (deep). The problem is that those things cost like 100$ and I will probably only adjust 2-3 nuts in my entire life.

How can I keep my hand moving if I just want to be hitting a few strings and not all when strumming?

“My expectations of the Fender were so high because it was a serious guitar with proper pickups,” he says. “I thought it would help me play all the things I wanted to play... which led to frustration. I was used to playing humbuckers on that crappy Diamant guitar. The single-coils didn’t sound right, I was wondering what the fuck they were. I learned from that lesson and later sold the guitar.”

Blues is a weird genre you start with less notes when you learn it, then slowly add more and faster playing and then when you truly master the instrument and genre you go back to your roots of simple licks because thats where the soul is. If you play too many notes or too fast it ain't blues any more its rock and roll.
