>>
Bright eyes and Big thief are the only ones that come close
>>

>>
>>129014203
New Moon is s/t but better and a double album
>>
>>129017716
are you supposed to listen to an album multiple times?
>>
>>129014203
i'd recommend you listen to the rest of his discography, especially either/or

it's hard to say a favourite track, but top 3 are st ides heaven, good to go and the biggest lie.
>>
>>129014203
listen to either/or. imho those are the two best elliot smith albums and they're both masterpieces
>>
>>129022373
i already listened to it but i don't love it as this one
>>
>>129022461
you might go backwards and listen to roman candle then. elliott smith starts out his career a lot more raw and then gets more and more polished with each album, except the last one which is unfinished because he was too fucked up
>>
>>129022740
>last one which is unfinished because he was too fucked up
he got clean and then his girlfriend fricking murdered him
>>
>>129022767
>clean and sober

x to doubt

elliots in the category of 'perfect song writer' - an elusive music maker. id put the beatles in that category, john frusciante in that category... and honestly not a lot of others come to mind...Wilco, jeff and the gang pulls it off very well. no one else comes to mind.

rivers cuomo was a previous boyfriend, her and rivers cuomo took Elliott smith out. God damn these evil people for taking out someone with a big soul. rivers cuomo is talentless and heartless by the way

Elliott Smith - XO, and Either/Or

Roman candle wasnt as good
Figure 8 was overproduced, but the theme was 'making music in an infinity loop' like he said in that one interview.

Dr Dog - Fate, & We All Belong, EasyBeat

is alright although less single guitar folksy -- theyre a band. The wannabe beatles sound is pretty real here though.

you won't really find anything like elliott smith, since good music ended with him. One of a kind soul ;-;

lol lmao. Are you fucking stupid? I don't know where this nick drake and elliott smith comparison began but if you actually cared about music you'd notice that they are nothing alike, just because both have acoustic guitar. Elliott smith makes music that can't be labeled because its timeless and he is basically the master of music
>>
>>129026966
This. Also, early Alex G is pretty close to Elliott Smith.
>>
>>129027057
alex g was influenced by elliott smith but not as good however

Sparklehorse, Jose Gonzales are ones I like. You might do well to just check out the soundtracks to Life is Strange games, they're not all gems but they tend to utilize a lot of this same mainstream-indie kind of stuff.
>>
>>129027236
not folk, just call it acoustic pop or something. Not sadboi by the way, he expresses allot and creates the best melodies
>>
>>129027073
Well of course not but he's really grown as a songwriter and become one of the best current artists.
>>
>>129023656
this was always suspicious to me. a star fucker has a bf that mysteriously dies. funky smell.

it's very clearly that she killed him
