Unlistenable piece of shit album
>It's supposed to sound bad
well I still don't like it
>but it's influential
I still don't like t
>try safe as milk
It's just a shittier version of are you experienced. Fuck Beefheart and fuck you.
>>
I think TMR is overrrated.
The real gem is Strictly Personal.
>>
>>129025488
Okay but you don’t have to like something for it to be influential it just needs to influence you, get it, got it, good.
>>
I like it therefore it's good, either give it another listen and hope it clicks or go fuck yourself.
>>
>>129026248
>but you don’t have to like something for it to be influential
He never said it wasn't influential. He's saying he didn't like it despite that. I hate plenty of albums but don't deny their influence.
Read.

>It's just a shittier version of are you experienced
if that is your reference, listen to more music you dumb fucking zoomer
>>
seething

>It's supposed to sound bad
I have yet to hear anyone say this about any piece of music despite it being the default strawman made by filtered plebs from time immemorial
>>
Its not supposed to sound bad thats stupid it sounds good if you dont have virgin music ears. Anyways here's a list of the entry level tracks so you can try and grasp what they achieved on this monumental album.
>moonlight in Vermont (straight banger with a great blues hook)
>pachuco cadaver (second half is especially irresistible and catchy)
>sweet sweet bulbs (god tier hook every blues guitarist would dream of laying down)
>veterans day poppy (starts off rocking hard)
>sugar and spikes
>Ella guru
Most of the rest of the album is more challenging but almost all of it is special. Drumming is especially admirable, im a drummer and its this album and Bill Bruford omin KC that I wish I could emulate the most

I'll add that any true music fan struggling to understand this experimental masterpiece could make it easier on themself and listen to the instrumental version of the album because once the music is isolated its much easier to grasp and comprehend. I didn't need that but once you hear it that way youre either musically illiterate or playing dumb if you cant hear what they accomplished on this album.
>>
>>129030391
>youre either musically illiterate or playing dumb
Or you just don't enjoy how an album sounds the same way you hypothetically could not enjoy a more 'accessible' album?
>>
>>129025488
post one (1) good album of music
i'll wait
>>
>>129025488
>>but it's influential
lmao what? influential?
>>
>>129025488
Almost all of the 28 songs on trout mask replica are good
>>
>>129025956
Safe as Milk, Lick My Decals Off, Mirror Man, Spotlight Kid, Ice Cream for Crow.

Posting TMR is just a stupid meme by morons who have never listened to anything by him.
>>
>>129030419
What are your reasons for not liking it? OP at least gave some bad reasons
>>
>>129031068
I can admit that I’m a virgin ears who can’t process harmony beyond regular major/minor triads or at most the occasional 7th chord. But I don’t care, I still don’t like it.
>>
>>129031068
I do not enjoy his voice or the mixing or the way the instruments try to 'blend' together with eachother.
If I want weird jazz-inspired experimental rock I'll just go to Zappa or Henry Cow or Naked City or Starsailor.
>>
>>129025488
it's not even close to unlistenable. try Sorabji and then come back to us
>>
>>129025488
what did it influence?
>>
>>129025488
this just in OP is a homosexual
>>
Imagine getting filtered by Zappa of all things
>>
>>129033639
It influenced all experimental/post-rock albums past this point.
>>129034005
You can't give Zappa too much credit for TMR
>>
>>129030335
good selection but you forgot big joan and hair pie 2 which includes one of the greatest blues riff ever
>>
>>129025488
Try listening to it and paying attention to just the drums. It's an amazing accomplishment. It doesn't sound bad at all

Still not as bad as this pile of crap
>>
>>129034335
>no wall
>no DSOTM
>no wish you were here
pussy
>>
>>129034345
Cause those are great
>>
>>129034475
again, you're a pussy.
>>
>>129034475
you just like their most popular albums cuz you are a pussy and can't handle anything deeper from the surface
>>
>>129034487
No actually you are for cucking to the popular thing le bad narrative
>>
>>129034685
You can't even go all the way and say DSOTM, WYWH and the wall were just as shit as their other albums. What a fucking cop out "hot take". You're a fucking normie.
>>
>>129025488
nigger detected. try listening to rap. captain beefheart is not meant for subhumans like you :)
>>
>>129034780
You're a retarded hipster ingrate
>>
Grow up.
>>
>>129025488
>listen to music
>expect it to be enjoyable and fun
>it's not enjoyable and fun
>feel bad

You just don't get it. Music is not supposed to be a fun experience by default, sometimes it sounds bad because music can sound bad but still be a viable experience.
>>
>>129025488
You sound mad... It's not bad to be a filtered pleb, you know...
>>
>>129034475
Literally their worst albums
>>
>trout mask replica
>mask isn't a trout
How am I supposed to enjoy this?
>>
>>129025488
Listen to Aqualung and tropical fuck storm
>>
>>129025488
Yeah but Piero Scaruffi told me I'm supposed to like it and I'm incapable of intelligent thoughts and can't develop opinions on my own so I just listen to whatever he says.
>>
>>129037492
it's a carp mask, that's why he called it a replica of a trout mask.
if it was a trout mask he wouldnt need to call it a replica
>>
>>129030269
It probably a misinterpretation of “music doesn’t have to be fun to have merit”, which is a criticism I’ve seen made for better or worse.
>>
>>129025488
I'm 100% sure that you listened to the first 5 songs and formed your shitty opinion, everyone knows that the album starts with Moonlight in Vermont
>>
>>129037712
Listening to moonlight in vermont and it sounds bad karaoke in a dive bar with a backing band of people that picked up their instruments for the first time the week prior. It's just tired hipster crap that this board hypes up for some reason and people pretend to like it because they want to seem cool.
>>
>>129037777
>it sounds bad karaoke in a dive bar with a backing band of people that picked up their instruments for the first time the week prior.
If you don't find this either amusing or facinating I don't know what are you doing on this board, there's better tracks after moonlight in vermont but that's up to you to discover
>people pretend to like it because they want to seem cool
You have the personality of a facebook mom, neeeeext
>>
>>129037704
You can't call a carp mask a replica of a trout mask. That just doesn't make any sense at all.
