It's Song Review Time (For a Sleepy Sunday)Let's try to keep these at the ten minute mark or shorter, but otherwise post whatever the hell you want.I'll let the first non-OP dude link the first track.Last one archived too quick. Let's try it again.
https://youtu.be/AS8w5AlOOIk?si=tIc_P1bky1bbzqCv
>>129031863Hmm, soulful. Nice basslines, too. It loses me in the middle especially with those scratches. The attempt to add quirky rhythms is lost through overrepetition and the song devolves into self-indulgence from that point forward:https://youtu.be/JdM_wvlhj88
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AStIR2h-24&list=RD5AStIR2h-24&start_radio=1
>>129032075Christ, Screamo shrieks, autotune and tired Metalcore riffs. What an abomination.I'll just dump random songs and see what happens:https://youtu.be/w9eGc5Luk3chttps://youtu.be/43zYPQx0tJ0https://youtu.be/CeUrYHz9yl0https://youtu.be/6GNeswey4hAhttps://youtu.be/F8vCwaCK7SM
>>129032163Idk dawg it was just a trashy fun metal song, your last song looks like ai lol
>>129032212Funny because that was recorded in 1988. It's possible the band or label generated AI slop for whatever compilation, but rest assured, the recording heard there has done by actual human beings.
>>1290321638, 7, 6, 7, 7, you really like punk rock.
>>129032344Love Punk music; hate the subculture. You can say my relationship is complicated. Also, post some tunes so I can rate yours.
>>129032220We live in gay times
>>129032393Should've clarified. Generated an AI slop cover art for the compilation, but don't worry. The recording heard there is genuine. I have Heading for Internal Darkness on the original vinyl.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-CCh5INV7Y&list=RD0-CCh5INV7Y&start_radio=1&pp=ygUYdGhlIGNhcm91c2VsIGxpbmtpbiBwYXJroAcB been fucking with song alot, heard it the other day & was like damn. Never really got into lp but always thought they were cool
>>129032402nah you're good was just being a prick in the moment, I do want to get into more oldschool punk & do more genres outside the comfort zone
>>129032408Meh. This does nothing for me. Linkin Park was a band lots of kids made fun of, myself included, although their material aged better than most of their contemporaries. I preferred Slipknot. Funny that Zoomers have resuscitated Nu-Metal with their own generational take on it. They really live in a different world than we do, although I suppose previous generations said that about us.>>129032430This might be outside most people's comfort zones:https://youtu.be/Swgpayw8Pg4
>>129031863Painfully British name. I was down in a British invasion, psych kinda sound, but they totally lost me when he started moaning.https://youtu.be/G9Pb3Dh9i0E
>>129032448Not my style of Indie really. The music is pleasant and her voice is okay, but the lyrics inspire nothing in me. It's what you'd hear in a sleepy mountain town coffee shop popular with the locals. https://youtu.be/Gi01Yin_AqM
>>129032558I disagree. It's also not their usual sound, but still one of my favorite songs from them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaQadCxiwx4&list=RDaaQadCxiwx4&start_radio=1 >>129032558pretty good reminds not gonna make sense but reminds of windr or just when I used to listen that a variety of metal a few years ago
>>129032611The instruments are compelling but the vocalists are too weak for me. The woman is the stronger of the two. The male vocalist's mix is ass, too.Odds are you'll like Eastern Youth, if you're not already aware of them. I like them very much:https://youtu.be/5nOEl8x2S7khttps://youtu.be/5R6eBB3e6PgWould you believe these are the same band? The second comes from my favorite Punk album of all time.
>>129032664yh the female vocalist carries tf out of this song
>>129032794Thoughts on these? They got ignored.>>129031906>>129032445
>>129032603You might like this lovely woman:https://youtu.be/OqUe2UbVSwkhttps://youtu.be/Ka5iDC1cZfIhttps://youtu.be/FxhaT1hgBp4
>>129031802https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-G01tM0H_es
>>129032820I thought they were pretty solid honestly

>>129032937As pingu I forgot to review my above post.I do not care much for guitar singer songwriter troubles and tribulations "stuff", so my review would be heavily biased by my extreme dislike for said type of music. Objectively good control of her voice, but quite "safe", I feel like she could do more if she but dared.Ping out.
I'm off to bed. Will pick this up in the morning.
Bump
>>129032937lol no wonder you can't recognize soul. You're a generic garbage person.
>>129032984A shame they never released a studio-quality recording of this so it'll have to be bootlegged ad infinitum.>>129032943Meh. I know it's intended for kids, but this is way too silly for me. And not the fun kind of silly.https://youtu.be/AdpqgqVdXWs

>>129035527hoi I listened to four of your songs!werkraum- heilige krieg:I liked this one the most, the lyrics were meaningful and I'm a fan of the melody Julie Fowlis- hug air a bhonaid mhoir:beautiful singing, even tho I couldn't understand it it was really beautiful Greek song (idk how to write Greek lol):it wasn't really my thing, same thing with the last song, all you can eat by the fat boys but I think you added it because it felt nostalgic instead of for the musical valuehere are two of my fav songs https://youtu.be/TczgVk3g_ao?si=0hhQmMNMS-0vmBA8https://youtu.be/TMXOh2hHlgg?si=mskvO2Tr14K5UA6C
>>129035908Got some serious vaporwave vibes from the first track. Kinda comforting, although I wouldn't revisit it much.Xasthur? I never could get into them. They're one of the USBM bands who receive all the critics praise yet do nothing for musically. They lack the catchiness and ferocity of Grand Belial's Key, Absu, Havohej/Profanatica or fellow Califorians Ritual. They also lack the atmosphere crafted by I Shalt Become. At least they're not Weakling, Krallice, Panopticon or Lambs in the Playroom.
>>129036190oh thanks for the recommendations!I'm not into USBM that much I just like Xasthur because I randomly found the song and the title alone was relatable
Anyone?
>>129035908I posted Fat Boys just because I thought they were cool. Krush Groove is a fun movie, too.https://youtu.be/RONV2Fzu_4Uhttps://youtu.be/0ZZcyWOk4rMhttps://youtu.be/nZAOqSUWctQhttps://youtu.be/gOPunaYSJkE

>>129045875https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sswq3lgiCV4i listened to this song above my post : https://youtu.be/HLR5k8jedyc?si=OnFPL_Fl_AIoy7W9 and its honestly a pretty solid song like a 7.5/10
After much delay, I'm back.>>129048426Bleh. Tumblrcore Emo.>>129045875>Fall Out BoyDislike them intensely. Patrick Stump's voice is irritating.>BUMP OF CHICKENNot bad. They sorta remind me of later Eastern Youth but much poppier.>Sorority NoiseThe instruments are nice and moody which fit the sentimental lyrics, but the vocalist is kinda lifeless even during the vociferous parts.>X JapanExtremely based. Always loved them. This track is decidedly less metallic than anything they've done, but it works.>KamelotThey're okay, but they pale in comparison to bigger bands within Power Metal.>L' Arc〜en〜CielExtremely Funky. Not quite my style, though.>Pierce the VeilMy gym plays them all the time. Don't like them. This song is doing nothing for me.>The Academy Is...I'd rather listen to Rival Schools.

>>129050359You didn't review the 2nd to last tho, anyways : 1) 7 sounds like metallica 2) 4 stock sound, awful lyrics 3) 6 punk + metal 4) 8 I liked this one, kinda has a power metal feel. https://youtu.be/3F1W8HJLV5s?si=45n4qmHR2LXXFVSs https://youtu.be/-t5gGm3NWU4?si=-LLN8jlTV5lbjluW https://youtu.be/Lw6Wjd9lALM?si=5juW-UjlAepKye54 https://youtu.be/8D8BCcGxpNU?si=8Y-Z9RPsCmEczTNJ https://youtu.be/mq3TWDc4XMo?si=nOv501IV1MIPWSO- https://youtu.be/DP3j6hgS4VY?si=yhHSZBzAP_cKePVZ https://youtu.be/Bsi1TYQobew?si=7h0qe_ErEyU3ONV7
>>129051373>Dark TranquillityMeh. I have a handful of Gothenburg Metal favorites, but these guys were never them.>MUNAMeh. Synthpop slop built on liberal platitudes assuring the audience of presumed escape and safety. After decades of this sort of propaganda, this listens less like reprieve and more like top-down morality.>AreknuteknyterneThis is decidedly different. The guitars are nice and moody, and the synths add a creepy atmosphere that aids and abets the rest of the music, but the song's meandering challenges my attention span. Thankfully, the music picked up around the 5 minute mark. The song's weak ending makes rating it difficult.>Tinsel City RhapsodyNever watched Bubblegum Crisis, so I can't exactly relate to this. The tune is nice a slice of '80s AOR/Pop Rock sang in Japanese. A bit derivative.>ПилoтRussian Emo. Huh. I prefer Russian Metal.>PittyNeat music video. The music doesn't do much for me.>Darkest HourReally don't care for this style of Metal on account of the wussy vocals. The riffs are okay but very generic Melodic Metalcore.
We need more threads like these.
>>129051373>Darkest Hour - DEMONSNot a fan. I hate metalcore like this, there's no singing and melody it's just djenty guitar and some guy screaming into a mic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxY8vCuPmcE&list=RDAxY8vCuPmcE&start_radio=1
how do i review a song? i dont know what to say a lot of the time
>>1290447861) 7 as if Title fight and JEW had a child 2) 6 generic punkish sound 3) 7 good melody 4) 5 husker du mostly sucks https://youtu.be/vBZ5SLJmfdw?si=pumP33cl4vYUuHTB https://youtu.be/fr6zYYeudhI?si=nwKm2JQgN-Eh6-id https://youtu.be/p-eAtBYyqxg?si=vG9SXhSGgpVcCiu9 https://youtu.be/loGbCzBdXY8?si=VotHcs59xmdMPc3g https://youtu.be/agiIQciIuzI?feature=shared https://youtu.be/nPLfSfaiguI?si=3IZPxzZZ-M8cLW4Y https://youtu.be/yLk-oaMfvag?si=CWfIzmfi97AftBbp >>129056105 Not bad, but generic sound 6 ?
>>129057248Something tells me you're a weeb, aren't you?>InsomniumNever really checked these guys out at any length. Seems to be a very proggy sort of Melodeath with lots of Hard Alternative sensibilities. Not bad.>The Black Dahlia MurderNever liked these guys. Lots of hype, but these riffs are unpleasantly wonky. The vocals are bunk, too.>GenocyberDoes nothing for me.>HeavenlyI like Power Metal, but not Flower Metal. This is way too kitsch. Power Metal needs riffs more than bombast.>Bubblegum CrisisMuch like the other song from that anime, the tune is nice a slice of '80s AOR/Pop Rock sang in Japanese. A bit derivative.>Love Me TonightGeneric '80s love song. Way too slow and the vocalist lacks charisma. Does absolutely nothing for me.
>>129056105I think my gym played these guys once. This tune is painfully generic Butt Rock start to finish. Sure, it's fit for the radio but utterly forgettable.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECVdqazgaSY>>129044634dance on you fool is groovy. you've got admirable taste
>>129058985Grace Jones is based. "Slave to the Rhythm" is my favorite. This one appears to be one of her earlier cuts. Very Disco.
>>129058833>Something tells me you're a weeb, aren't you? It's been over 2 months since I last watched an anime episode, I used to watch a lot in my teens/early 20s, but rarely watch anymore, it just so happens that a lot of anime ops have songs I really like. also, post some, you started the thread. https://youtu.be/yGVd2TnlLxs?si=Uz6xGFWTbppEvwLN https://youtu.be/OHTSxw6zN1E?si=4ZV4HR1jpT1UPoA6https://youtu.be/EHSIHm3Zjr8?si=Sz39X8BpX8V9LtAH https://youtu.be/asI2DsUPWJ4?si=sy_XEtATccA9JV3u https://youtu.be/Ti1liRM6cao?si=x6wBk15ZBG8TVgrk https://youtu.be/aAF36fypHQc?si=7M_6ANaf9unogiQF https://youtu.be/MZVu4c5sJhE?si=pSi86FswWkVxVluv https://youtu.be/JXbLyi5wgeg?si=yUozRWu8926VITqv

>>1290446341st one is meh, it jumps all over the place and I prefer consistency, would not listen to/102nd is cool, 7/10, like the moody sound3rd is not my thing, don't like the voice on that one, 4/10 music and 3/10 voice4th is fun, not my style, but I give it a 7/0 for making me smile5th one is grating, 3/10Here's minehttps://youtu.be/BCtGYJ0z0L4
>>129061728Emily was definitely the highlight of that performance. The guy's bars were kinda whack, and the rest of the song lost steam. Never really cared for Linkin Park although its relaunch under Emily isn't half as abominable as the Chester diehards claim.
>>129061728I'm not young enough to listen to rap anymore.https://youtu.be/fpLfIxuYHro?si=Rc4SNyWGSGdwO5L2
>>1290446341) sounds like post-punk with some brazilian influence 5 2) Gothic post-punk mood, recalls blackstar, some 80s synth tunes, reminds me of arcade soundtracks like metal slug or megaman 7 3) generic French post-punk 6 4) boring, sounds like something they came up with in 5 min, so 5 5) sounds like Bauhaus 6 >>129040493 1) Sounds like normal rap ? 5, I prefer the more poppy eminem songs like with Rihanna, Rock Bottom is great tho. 2) stock r&b + rap song 5 3) 90s style rap, enjoyable 6 4) good R&B/rap 6
>>129058843>painfully generic Butt Rock>>129057248>generic soundYeah, but I found it really catchy>>129061908gonna listen to this one next
I sometimes wonder if music has a weight limit. Some of these tunes sound like the listener must weigh < 170 lbs / 77 kg in order to appreciate them.>>129061908Sounds like the sort of NYC-friendly Garage Indie but done 18 years earlier. >>129059181>GalneryusIs this supposed to be Power Metal? This sounds like Groove/Nu-Metal with clean vocals.>The ShinsSounds way too wussy for me.>Cymbals Eat GuitarsWonderful atmosphere from the instruments, but the vocalist is sorta grating. The lyrics are pleasantly sentimental.>The WalkmenSounds like all the ubiquitous Indie music popular with /mu/tants throughout the 2010s. Does absolutely nothing for me.>Sleater-KinneyHated them then. Hate them now.>Big StarDamn, that was depressing. The song would've been more impactful if the singer wasn't so moany. >PulpDoes absolutely nothing for me. Neither tune.
>>129062306>>129061908Nice. I legit thought it was Thom Yorke when he sang that first line lol. His voice is great though. Since we're doing international music:https://youtu.be/KTedBLDtvOg?si=_jpRFNzcdANxBB0K
>>129062437Pretty good rock ballad-type song, I like the singer's voice a lot, gives it good personality.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbigorXamHQ
>>129062399>I sometimes wonder if music has a weight limit. Some of these tunes sound like the listener must weigh < 170 lbs / 77 kg in order to appreciate them.
>>129062722I was being glib, but the style of Indie music endemic all throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s sounds curated for skinny-jeans urbanites who work in ICT.
